Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
There would want to be a plan bubbling away in the background and a replacement they already have lined up. They were just starting to look well organised (or at least Pelchen's side of it was) after a great trade period. If this is a reactive thing that has not been planned from the background since the review concluded then I have serious doubts over the place.

The only way this will not look like a total train wreck is if there is a replacement already in the wings.

Good move if true.
And jaxons, once again you come up with the truth.
Nothing you have written this of season has been false.
Love your work.

Re: Gone Watters
I think he did. He'll get some serious sympathy out of that. Not that he won't anyway. f$&k!markp wrote:I didn't hear this morning's interview... did he try make himself unsackable?joffaboy wrote:markp wrote:
But could it be he 'went rogue' on SEN this morning?
All the website says is that Summers will make a statement this afternoon. I am assuming now Jaxons is on the $ with Choco.
Always loyal
Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
I'd say Scott did just try and make himself unsackable. Unauthorised interview. Infact they said they requested him not to.

We're a bloody joke..seriously.
We're obviously having a fire sale. Failure upon failure and now failing some more.
Our recruiting has been crap, our player development has been crap. My only hope is we don't score another wooden spoon in the next 5yrs.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

As long they have a new coach lined up then
I support the Club.
I saw nothing in his 2 yrs to show he could coach.

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
Cant see what the club has done wrong - seems like a positive move.
The leaks from the club were that SW didn't have a future
Internal rumblings from some players re game plan issues
They waited until after draft to not unsettle recruits but ahead of preseason
Pelchan would like to see one of "his men" installed.
The next appointment is crucial, reminds me of our last rebuilt under GT. Really need someone to mentor, build character etc with a proven record. Choco seems to fit that brief.
More importantly, best not to overeact when most posters don't have all the facts. Nor should they expect the club to conduct business in the public forum

Are we waiting for a saviour?
I'm so sick of waiting!

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
Well if they sacked him due to him apparently going on radio and saying he got the OK from the club.. Surely the club wouldn't have had a coach lined up, due to the sudden nature of this this morning.. At this stage it sounds like the radio gig was the final straw..

I'd go so far as to say, I reckon he was sacked for going on SEN this morning.

Some of you may not like this question, but will Nettlefold change his mind and stay?
And can Chris Pelchen coach?

Would think not. This tells us that Tony74's info comes from down the tree (outside the inner sanctum) and that Jaxons is connected to someone up the tree (inside the inner sanctum).

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
I support the club in making this move now, prior to training beginning next week, but I worry that we don't have a ready made replacement for Watters as coach.
Someone suggested Robert Harvey on SEN, but now is not the time for him to debut as the main man, we need an experienced hand at the helm to develop our young talent over the next few years, although I wouldn't mind Harvs as midfield coach to replace Laidley.
I watched Watters body language with our senior players closely after our last game and he seemed to be on good terms with them, so I can only conclude that his issues were with footy staffers, rather than players.
Mark Williams would be a good short term replacement ala Paul Roos at Melbourne, possibly with Harvs or another young coach to take over in a few years time.
We need someone who is bullet proof in the short term.
