We live in the age of short attention span, and unless you're winning you're invisible- sad but true.

Those with a short attention span would forget about Andrew Lovett, Brett Peake, Jesse Smith, Adam Pattison, Polo and other wonderful, recycled players that Ross Lyon was happy to be judged on.

What I will do in future is not share information with our loyal supporters who can't handle the truth.

The truth being that the club made a mistake 2 years ago, and it needs to be rectified before further damage is done.
It is no shame making a mistake when you are having a go.
The shame is acknowledging it is a mistake and doing nothing about it.
You guys don't even know the half of it.

My perception was that RL was the biggest mistake to hit our footy club in the last 20 years...the truth is that losing a GF and losing 2 in a row might be a lot worse than actully getting there

My perception is Lyon wasnt as great as some people remember . He made some terrible decisions. He had a terrific bunch of senior players at their peak to work with.

SW is also not as bad as some people make out.
He too has made some bad decisions but he has had a terribly unbalanced playing list to work with and senior players on the wrong side of the mountain and a bit embittered. No easy task.

All in all it is a team effort and we should judge the club as a whole.

Our brains are designed to look for shortcuts which makes us all focus excessively on the senior coach in our quest for simple answers and simple solutions.

I said it 3 weeks ago and I will say it again.
Finances aren't great. 3 senior players are trade bait. 2 assistant coaches will go. Scott will be there till the end of 2016. We've been through worse. <snip>

Re the 2 assistants out the door: I'm only aware of Jaymie Graham having left so that suggests that someone else probably won't be around next year too.....

Potential members and sponsors don't line up to get on board losing teams, nor are they terribly interested in clubs rebuilding etc etc... it's a cut-throat comp and we need to show improvement by winning more games in 2014

We don't look to the future but bust our guts to make a squad a long way off a premiership slightly less rubbish.

All that does is lead us to a worse position in a couple of years when we still arent winning games and not looking like doing so for some time.

Why is it wrong? The coach needs to report to the head of football. The fact that in the past we had a coach controlling everything was wrong and caused problems under GT & RL. What we have know is the correct model.

Agree. This is the right model but apparently the boundaries weren't clear (or discussed perhaps).


Leadership/Management problem at the club to get this wrong. Hopefully some of he culprits are now gone so we can move forward. Alignment in the club is essential to breed success.


Individual egos need depositing outside of the club and working relationships need to be restored to meet the need of the club strategy.

He was on the Selection panel to appoint him.

Perhaps he should take responsibility and fall on his sword. Who is he answerable to?

If rumour is true about him and Watters not getting on then what's going to happen if he and the next one don't get on?

Go through the same process again? After all dictators are head to get out of an organisation once they are in.
