hurricane we havent had a perth double for quiet a few years ... (i think 2009 might have been the last time) we had a preseason game in perth then a in season game in 2012 but its been a while since we had two in season games in perthHurricane wrote:It's not that bad. We actually avoid the Perth double for the first time I can remember off the top of my head. Still travel to Perth once, Adelaide twice, Geelong (which might as well be another state), Tasmania, Queensland, Sydney and NZ (by choice but still) The pre-season fixture with the Dogs and GWS should mean that we can get some valuable game time into the kids without them being thrashed. Overall im not overly thrilled with the amount of times i'll have to stay up till the rest of the family is getting up but it could have been worse

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Just gotta accept our draw as a positive particularly if they can get early wins the confidence of the young group will rise.
The issue I have is why are the Swans gifted 4 points and % round one worth 8 points. Also playing GWS again twice does nothing but ensure they are gifted 8 points.

Local derby. Will always have it in the growing markets. Its only a short term thing. In 5 years it maybe gifting GWS 8 points.

Can't wait for Turd to step down and then we will finally get GF footy.

Well, if we are 0 and 2, it is going to be a really long season.

The fixture is the biggest non event of the football year.
You're good enough you win.

My theory on the fixture is the good and bad sides dont get effected at all. Its all about the middle sides. Agree it basically means Jack.

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Kind of disappointed that St Kilda has the toughest draw out of the teams that finished bottom 6... Why couldn't we hvae played both of Melbourne and GWS twice...
I think 2014 might be a wooden spoon year - I am only predicting 3 wins. Happy to be proven wrong though!

Yep by injuries. We won 19 in a row in 2009. my guess is we played most sides nearly everywhere in Australia. When was the last side to win the flag because of the fixture. Sides may make the 8 because of it but I doubt any have won because of it. If that was the case wouldnt have the pies won 20 flags in a row?

Minimum performance expectation should be 4 wins from the first 9, and possibly 5.
IMO we really should be 5-5 after 10 and if we're not (barring catastrophic injury) then SW will have had his time. As harsh as that sounds. First 10 rounds will give us a really good idea.
I think we will beat Melbourne, GWS, Brisbane, Gold Coast (Etihad), West Coast (Etihad) and Footscray.
The best part of the fixture is that the first two rounds guarantee us two wins, the worst part of the fixture is that the next twenty rounds don't guarantee us any wins, because we don't play either of these basket cases again!

So I'll say it again.
