Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Richmond finished 5
Carlton finished 9
Adelaide finished 11
West Coast finished 13
Gold Coast finished 14
So West Coast and Gold Coast are in our bracket
Who has the Vaseline - or are we going dry again?

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
10 home games at Etihad is good. Happy with no home MCG games.
Seems to be less 440 games and more day games overall. Quite a few 320 but that extra 80 minutes makes all the difference with little kids.

As a fan you might be, but considering the club asked for more, not less home games at the MCG, I don't think they will be.saintnick12 wrote:10 home games at Etihad is good. Happy with no home MCG games.

We have to write a much bigger cheque for a pathetic crowd at Etihad than we do for the same pathetic crowd at the G.

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Fair enough
Just hated playing home game against Richmond there last year with the feral alternative cheersquad right behind. One of the worst experiences ever at a game. Also don't see the point of playing Melbourne there like last year.
Can see the point for a blockbuster match like vs cats or pies a few years ago but we won't be having many of those anytime soon.
Yes was thinking from a purely selfish and family point of view - love our Etihad seats, but concede it might not be as good financially for the club.

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
It's not that bad. We actually avoid the Perth double for the first time I can remember off the top of my head. Still travel to Perth once, Adelaide twice, Geelong (which might as well be another state), Tasmania, Queensland, Sydney and NZ (by choice but still) The pre-season fixture with the Dogs and GWS should mean that we can get some valuable game time into the kids without them being thrashed. Overall im not overly thrilled with the amount of times i'll have to stay up till the rest of the family is getting up but it could have been worse

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
I can see why they didn't give Watters a contract extension.
Minimum performance expectation should be 4 wins from the first 9, and possibly 5.
IMO we really should be 5-5 after 10 and if we're not (barring catastrophic injury) then SW will have had his time. As harsh as that sounds. First 10 rounds will give us a really good idea.

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Am sorry there aren't any home games at the G, but stoked by the increase in the number of day games. Saintnick12 you are spot on about the younger kid factor. In round 23 the people in the seats around us were wondering where we'd been most of the year. 4.40 is a crappy time, much happier with 3.20.saintnick12 wrote:10 home games at Etihad is good. And doubly stoked about 2 home games to start the season. Am seriously hoping we all make a huge effort to turn out to those games and get the season going.
Fantastic to only go to Perth once (apologies to those out West), and I don't care who we play twice. Who knows what will happen next year? I thought GC and Port Adelaide would still be easy beats in 2013 and look how that turned out ...

We will win at least 6 games next season and if the youngsters keep improving Watters should get an extention for at least two years.Legendary wrote:I can see why they didn't give Watters a contract extension.

I think we will beat Melbourne, GWS, Brisbane, Gold Coast (Etihad), West Coast (Etihad) and Footscray.
The best part of the fixture is that the first two rounds guarantee us two wins, the worst part of the fixture is that the next twenty rounds don't guarantee us any wins, because we don't play either of these basket cases again!

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
Frequent flyer points will be accrued next year that's for sure. Gold Coast to tassie to Perth to Wellington!
But happy to get less six day breaks and not too many horrible twilight a.
But oh my - soooo many games on foxtel. Looks like I'll have to get the sport package added back on next year.
This tv rights deal needs to be renegotiated. At LEAST five games on fta per WEEK. Sick of having split rounds where all you get televised is four night matches.
Not too disappointed with the travel because the trade off is less games hosting non vic sides.
Still we host GWS AND gc so they will be significant financial losses. Freo too but given their recent form, might not be so bad. Avoid north Brisbane port home at etihad so minor win there. Bulldogs will probably be a loss too.
Ugh and back down to feral inbred sleepy hollow again.
Two Friday night matches which is frankly two more than we deserve. That Collingwood one in indigenous one will give us some big money I think.
Home matches versus Richmond and Carlton will also help especially now the Monday night one isn't televised.
Good cushy start means we could get a few wins up to give us a head start. I don't care what anybody says - I want to avoid the spoon next year. Finish second last instead. Get dp number 2. Don't need wooden spoon number 27 thanks very much.
Tough run home with faves against Sydney and adelaide away and Richmond at the g. But usually the crisp teams are done by then anyway.
Probably only the one (maybe two) twenty goal losses next year.

Bugga me, that's a bit conservative, if we can't be in the eight I'll go he. And that Watters bloke can definitely go if we can't make the finals.....Legendary wrote:I can see why they didn't give Watters a contract extension.

I think we have about 9 winnable for the whole year probably 5 of the first 9 though. That's if some of the duds don't make a leap.

If watters is coaching at the start of next year , then he may not last too long if we were to lose the first two matches !

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
I would count 3.20pm starts as good as twilight. Therefore 5 Sunday "late" games and another 3 Saturday twilight games. 8 all up. Pretty disappointing really. Worst time for footy IMO.Dr Spaceman wrote:No draw can please everyone, but I'm with you on this one St ChrisSt Chris wrote:Only 5 twilight games, of which only 2 are on sunday......

This from the Hun:
ST KILDA
BAD Tackles GWS only once
GOOD Plays nine of their first 11 matches at Etihad Stadium.
GOOD Carlton is the only double-up opponent from top-six.

7 day games in Melbourne if you count 3.20 as day. Happy with that.
7 interstate and 1 in Geelong is expected as we are crap.

Why? These are all average to s*** teams!Buckets wrote:Liam_G wrote:The teams we play twice are Carlton, Richmond, West Coast, Adelaide and Gold Coast.
Not looking like a great fixture for us.
Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
And let's face it Carlton actually came 9th - so we don't really play a single top 8 team twice. Can't complain about that!!SemperFidelis wrote:This from the Hun:
