I'd love to see this kid get reformed and give his best football to us.

We've seen bad boys go both ways - some get their head straight, others don't.

In achieving results, what I've seen in my exposure to professional athletes is a combination of:

- Strong, sustained and consistent leadership, driven by a focus on MINIMUM values, not MAXIMUM values.
- A desire from the player to getting the best from himself. Some players need to change clubs to find this; some need to be exposed to life without what they thought was theirs.

Whether our culture is where it needs to be is definitely the question I'd ask.

I'm confident the kid's failure at GC should result in him getting his life together.

I agree sometimes things don't work out for someone for whatever reason - the kid seems to need a fresh start - if given the opportunity he might turn his career around - he might not but I would like to see the club give him a chance - cause he looks to have potential

He wasn't drink driving. If you read the article again it has started talking about another player being delisted by that point.
So he has been in a verbal argument at training. Roo and Heath black did worse. Granted black was a nutcase but so it brown.
Really the only worry is the fight in Thailand. It's not the perfect history but far from the worst.
I say get him.

We will lose an inside mid after next season in Lenny. Would be good support for Armo and Jack and Lenny would be a great mentor for a young hard inside mid.

No. We only have to take him through the rookie draft if we want to rookie him, otherwise we can sign him as a delisted free agent. The same way we signed Dylan Roberton last year.

I heard from a super reliable source yesterday Viv Michie was desperate to get to Saints and we may overtures to his manager then all of a sudden Melb got him for a song!!!

We need to cherry pick these guys as much as possible IMO - Michie would've been handy given our lack of mids

And Mad Saint Guy, what has Weller shown that you would have him in front of two small forwards and our only stopper?

Well for one thing, TDL is a small, soft, low-possession forward pocket who doesn't tackle, crumb or kick many goals. Saad has more upside but is likely to be suspended for the next two season, and is therefore a waste of a spot. Jones will be 30 by the time next season starts, can't kick and rarely stops an opponent anymore. I believe Curren should become our new run-with midfielder (who also accumulates quality disposals and can kick goals).

Weller is a strong-bodied young midfielder with a fair chunk of AFL experience already to his name. Right now he'd be around the same level as Seb Ross, perhaps with a little less class and more aggression. We need to build our young midfield reserves because not all of them will come good and we don't want to be relying heavily on 18 year old draftees and a 30+ veterans as our only support for Steven and Armo next year. Weller would help keep competition healthy for the likes of Ross, Curren and Newnes while having the potential to become a 150 gamer himself.

The way I view it
Id say weller has a 30% chance of being any good.

And unless there was an injury last year we dont know about then from I have seen tdl is a 10% chance of being any good.

We do lack a crumbing fwd but tdl doesnt really crumb. He is a small leading fwd.
Id rather just play the minch if/when the inevitable injury comes.
Chuck saunders or curren down there. At least we know those two will make a contest down there.

Happy to give Weller a go and also reckon we should have gone for Michie.

Sign him up. Before someone else gets him.

He costs us nothing. Give him a 2 year deal, and at worst we pay a d*ckhead for 2 years when our salary cap is the lowest it's been in a decade, at best he grows up a bit and shows he actually wants an AFL career, and he turns out to be a gem.
