My Selections -

Pick 3 - Billings

Pick 18 - Acres

Pick 19 - Dunstan

Just based on size and leadership and the X factor with Billings ...

Very excited for this draft!!!

I have no idea - Billings sounds like the classy match winner. Aish the pure midfielder.

Have we been lacking pure accumulators in recent drafts (the last 10). Sounds like Crouch would be a great fit if he fell to 18.

ALS with this draft seems everyone has a differing opinion! Every phantom draft is different!

I'd love Billings at 3, but if GWS take him then Kelly, then Aish

Unfortunately a lot of better players won't be available e.g. Acres, Salem, Taylor, Crouch

I reckon our choice at 18/19 will be from

Hartung, Dumont, Dunstan, Tsitas, Tempetlon (Tas).

I reckon if the players we like don't slide / aren't available, then we may go Garlett.

I just wonder what would happen if say CHF McCarthy from WA is the slider (or even Gardiner Full Back), do we take him, even though we want mids?

Interesting times ahead

I think we are not sounding likely but I wish we got Scharenberg. Billings or Kelly are my guesses for who we actually get and then it's who ever the best placed in 18 and 19. Couch, Dunstan, Dumont, Cripps, Crouch etc.

There are some good smokies for the later picks this year with Brady Gray cutting up the combine despite recent conversion from soccer. Jimmy Websters brother Zac, Kade Kolodjashnij's twin who isn't as highly rated but was played as a FB despite his size not being quite right. Possibly like the Wakelins where it evened out in time. Shame we don't have a couple of speculative picks in the mid 20s as well.

Sam Landsberger
The talk is it's more likely out ot Aish and Billings and, as it stands, we believe they're favouring the Vic. Jack is just about the most talented player in the draft and he loves big moments. Should develop into an A-grade midfielder.

Will be interesting to see other clubs take on Gartlett

he's pbly too much of a risk for our top 3 picks which I believe are all we'll use... but then if he is available at fourth... we may well take a punt and cut one more

To late then. All delistings are done before the draft.

Nah stuff this.

I like the first two but hell I'm not going to be scared into the location of their birth. Players stay, players leave for different states.

I'd rather pick Judd cos he was best and then have him go thank pick someone slightly worse and have them stay... It's tougher, it's a bitch - but it's always the better outcome.

Didn't we delist Winmar after the National Draft last year?

Thought you were making a prediction on who we will pick on the 18th of March 2019... then I realised we weren't in America...

For the record in 2019 I hope we have the last pick of the first round!

3 - Scharenberg / Billings

Reckon all the other bigger bodied types who play midfield or can transition into there will be gone by 18:
Freeman, Dunstan, Crouch, Salem, Sheed, Bontempelli, Lennon, Kolodjashnij, Acres & Dumont

Think Zak Jones will go to Geelong

GWS could take KPD Gardiner to replace Josh Bruce. The only other KP player in the top 20 might be Cam McCarthy IMO
If one or both of these happen, then one or two of the group above should slide.

18 - Hartung
19 - Any of the above who slide / Jon Marsh / Cripps

Billings is almost locked in.

Would be stoked with Dunstan, Acres, Crouch, but i imagine at least two will be gone by pick 18. Someone like Lennon could slide and would be good value.

Would love us to take Bontempelli at pick 3, but we don't have the balls for that.

We will have a list of the best 20 players in our opinion. We will select the best player still available at each selection. If we do anything else I would be seriously concerned.

Smokey - Garlett ...

Good suggestions.

However, my picks would be (assuming Boyd and Kelly go 1 + 2 to GWS)

Billings has everything we need so it makes a lot of sense to go for him with pick 3.

I think he he is what the GWS has already in other players. I just see Billings as a natural fit for us : Aggression, great mark and can kick accurately as well as tons of pace and can play forward as well as being someone who could easily slot into the midfield.

For picks 18 and 19 again assuming that they haven't been picked up earlier I think we will go for Acres and Hartung.

The Saints have made no secret of wanting midfielders and this draft has a lot of good ones in the early picks.

Acres is tall, mobile, and a good kick. He seems to have the X factor. Similarly Hartung has that raw speed that recruiters are looking for and he can run all day. Both of these guys are prepared to get the hard contested ball.

I think whoever we go for will have to deliver pace, marking ability as well as accurate kicking for goal.

Clearly we have loaded up our picks to go in the first two rounds because the draft falls away after that which makes me think Elshaug and co know exactly who they want and are confident they will get who they are going for.

As for Garlett I think he will only come to us as a rookie if he comes to us at all.

Can't see us wasting a pick on him which is a shame for him because he has so much talent and deserves to play footy at the highest level. He would certainly add something to our offensive capability.

But I guess the jury is still out on his off field behaviour so there will be a note of caution exercised by any club considering him especially St Kilda.

Billings looks like a half forward / forward pocket to me. Don't we need a gun mid like Aish or Kelly rather than a mercurial forward?

Suss
My understanding is that Billings is a mid.
He was a gun as an under ager in 2012 but had knee bursitis in 2013 so wanted to run less and thats why he went fwd last year.
Still showed he can dominate as a small fwd but i think he is essentially a mid.

Ill stand corrected if this is wrong.

I think it will be one of Aish, Kelly or Billings at #3. Looking at the video highlights and interviews with each player i'd be happy with any of the 3. No real preference because I think they will all become stars

Id love Salem to slip through to 18/19 but I doubt that will happen.

18 - Dunstan

19 - Acres

I'd want to pick up Jolly and Weller as delisted free agents and if we use 95 to upgrade Curran that will be good. Rookie draft i'd take Garlett if he hasn't be selected or if he has i'd like Chris Cain
