Fancy having to play that rabble in our highlight game, proves we only make up the numbers in this comp
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

by the Saints are
# someone differant each year
by the AFL/ Clubs
# eastern seaboard teams considered due to travel.
other
# we wouldn't want to play a top 4 team too often and get beaten or it will defeat the membership drive part of the consideration for doing the deal.
# with Melbourne playing games in the NT they are not likely to be interested,
# Tigers just getting out of playing Up North
# Bulldogs?
#Suns- still trying to establish
#GWS using canberra as second base- already stretched.

It's OUR game not Shytney's.
Different opponent each year will help get the locals behind us.

Is Wayne42 related to p66 and BM."oh doom and gloom!"
Why not Lions? Their supporters deserted them a few years after the hat-trick.
The few members they have, won't mind.

Re: Lions our opposition in Wellington
I spoke with officials from NZ when I went over for the game this year and they have requested we play a different team each year and that the team we play not be from Melbourne to broaden the range for marketing.
Re: Lions our opposition in Wellington
You sir have no idea at all. What is your job again? Now that was funny. As for this topic, people said a little while back it has to be someone we may at least beat. we get the Lions and some still arent happy. Confusing to say the least.WellardSaint wrote:Is Wayne42 related to p66 and BM."oh doom and gloom!"

Go Saints!
I'll be there again. Looking forward to it already. Hope the result is different. Certainly not as difficult as playing the reigning premier.
I'm also pleased that it is going to be a different opponent each year as it gives us a much stronger platform on which to build a fan base/ following here in NZ.

You would rather play them on neutral territory than fund Etihad at $600 000 a day to have 2000 people turn up. NZ can be our Tasmania. The one it isn't worth paying the stadium costs on.

It's a much Longer distance for Brisbane to travel, when compared to Melbourne...over 1000kms Longer...don't rule out the Longer factor!

Re: Lions our opposition in Wellington
I'd rather play them in Auckland but Wellington is a bit closer and easier for me to get to these days than Tasmania or Etihad so yeah.gringo wrote:Schillaci wrote:Go Saints!

Re: Lions our opposition in Wellington
If we are going to be playing over there and trying to get NZ people to support us, we need to win, otherwise it will be Tassy all over again, hopefully the Lion will be worse than us next year

We need to play someone we can actually beat!! Lions give us a chance at least. People want to get on board and have a win. Most wouldn't know the difference between lions and tigers.

Correct. It's all about the money. That's the only reason we are there.saint66au wrote:City of Wellington also want a different opponent every year to maximise tourism $$

Yeah they are just pathetic......when did we last beat them?I Love Peter Kiel wrote:Pencil it in..... A certain win against this sh*t team!
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
