Herald Sun
Gave us a C+ for this trade. I dont agree with this.On face value what should it be?
Personally I'd give it an A.
BTW I still cant believe the fuss about trading McEvoy. Ive never rated him.

A C+???
I guess it depends if there's a bell curve or not.
If there isn't, then maybe a C+ is remotely close to fair. If there is, then they're deadset off their nut!

Re: Herald Sun
A bell curve grades you in comparison with everyone else.
So if everyone is s***, and so are you, but you're less s*** than everyone else - you'll get an A.

Re: Herald Sun
Let me guess Collingwood got a A?
We recruited two starting key backs and a gun young ruck not to mention Savage who is a great user of the ball.

Re: Herald Sun
So many of those ratings are done by lazy journos - Wallace gave us a big thumbs up today, understanding the context of our trades and where we are in the cycle.
The Hun reporter just sees we lost McEvoy and Dal, and therefore it's a fail.

Re: Herald Sun
Yes but Wallet and the twat Barrett bagged the s.hit out of us for the past three weeks until today.fugazi wrote:So many of those ratings are done by lazy journos - Wallace gave us a big thumbs up today, understanding the context of our trades and where we are in the cycle.

They were saying idiot things like Lee for no 12 (no dp) ad Hickey was from GWS. Bagged us out about McEvoy and we were bad bad bad.
Noe of these twats can see the full picture, like many on here, wanted to bag the trading with out or before the period was done

Re: Herald Sun
The Saints hijacked trade week away from Lance Franklin's surprise move when they illustrated how bold and aggressive they were prepared to be by trading young ruck Ben McEvoy to Hawthorn for a shuffle that sees them end up with a couple of late first-round/early second-round draft picks and Shane Savage. The Saints lost Nick Dal Santo to North – they could have kept him but chose not to – and McEvoy. They are two big losses that made the statement they were prepared for short-term pain. The net effect is the Saints have lost McEvoy for a couple of top-20 draft picks and Savage, collected two key backs – one ready to go and one nearly ready in Luke Delaney and Josh Bruce – and a young ruck prospect in Billy Longer for a mid-20s pick. The Saints clearly figure they will not be much worse off on field next year than they would have been otherwise, but they will potentially now be better off in three to five years' time. It all now comes down to how well they use the picks they took. They will not die wondering.chook23 wrote:anyone access the age report card?
In: Savage (Hawthorn), Delaney (North Melbourne), Longer (Brisbane Lions), Bruce (GWS), picks 18, 19, 48. Out: McEvoy (Hawthorn), Dal Santo (North Melbourne), picks 24, 25, 41, 48, 59, 77.

Re: Herald Sun
Thanks for above
Tis from afl website
under heading losers
St Kilda
IN: Shane Savage, Luke Delaney, Billy Longer, Josh Bruce
OUT: Nick Dal Santo (FA), Ben McEvoy
PICKS: 3, 18, 19, 95
The Saints were very active in the trade period but it's hard to get excited about any of the business they did. The trade for Longer was a steal, paying massive unders for a former pick No.8 ruckman, but other than that it's all a bit 'meh.' Savage, Delaney and Bruce aren't going to make much difference to St Kilda in the short term. Longer could be anything. They don't make up for losing a terrific clubman of 260 games' experience (Dal Santo) and a ruckman the Saints had invested years in (McEvoy). They do hold three top-20 picks, admittedly, but we're not all that convinced by St Kilda's drafting over the past few years anyway. A mixed bag.

Re: Herald Sun
I don't mind if the rest of the footy world believe we have had a poor trade period…
Some strange analysis, but who cares what they think, we all seem pretty happy.
You can't have a successful trade period without giving something up.
FWIW - I think Collingwood had a good trade period too, but they did lose 2 stars in their prime, plus a developing young key forward.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Quite possibly - I also agree with the post that it's fine if the general consensus is not super positive we will hopefully prove them wrong on the field in coming years.saintspremiers wrote:Anyone who thought we were C+ or average simply has NFI or are perhaps slightly retarded.
One thing I found interesting was that only about a week ago on SEN they were virtually laughing at the saints and talking of Hawthorns trading genius. At the end of proceedings today one of the shows - ox etc ? Graded the teams at trade week - saints best performed - pies 2 - h
