Carlton- Believe- we are the Blues - 3/10: But frankly we're not sure. Others believe we might just be a bunch of turds.

Collingwood- Collingwood Forever - 6/10: Classic; just like all the supporters' neck tattoos only without the spelling mistakes.

Essendon- nothing yet ( memberships available but just going with 'Essendon 2014'- slogan shy ) - 6/10 Yes, best to just remind people it's definitely NOT 2013 again.

Hawthorn- re running " Hawthorn always - 4/10: Hawthorn brown. Hawthorn football. Hawthorn is. Hawthorn Hawthorn. Hawthorn Bllllaaaaaahhhhh.

Gold Coast- take your seat- together we are stronger - 1/10: tak... haahahahaha!! TAKE YOUR SEAT?? What is this, the opera? Were a lot of GCFC fans leaving after the first quarter? This is not a slogan, this is crowd control. I'd love to see the accompanying images of proud supporters sitting in an orderly fashion yet still attempting to show passion.

GWS_ Stand tall - 4/10: yep, got it, you're the GIANTS, tall, big, gigantic. Hey, GWS you know what else was big? The Soviet Union. Tim Elliott. Motorola. The dinosaurs. BigMart. The name Greater Western Sydney. Better find another quality besides your size if you are to do anything in this league.

Port Adelaide- We are Port Adelaide. - 1/10: This slogan was composed by Ralph Wiggam, Springfield. We are a nothing football team. Bonus points for remembering the right conjugation for we. If this was a school assignment, this would just be the student's name at the top of a blank page.

Sydney - Proudly Sydney - 7/10: sly reference to the Pride Parade on Oxford St and also a big "f*** You, Victoria". I like it.


WHEREAS...

My St Kilda: More than a football club is brilliant, best in ages. 9/10

First of all, Words like STRONG, POWER, BEST, WINNER, etc sounds like Charlie Sheen shooting up tiger blood into his eyeballs or those insecure turnips you see rocking around in t-shirts that say BOSS, or No Fear merchandise, so I'm glad that we're not going down that road. We don't need to say how powerful we are, our actions say that. People who need to say they are powerful do it because they can't show it.

My St Kilda is personalised, coming from the supporters, which is where the club should be focused now. The slogan is not for inside the locker rooms, it's for the supporters, who come from a wide range. The club which connects to me. It's neither testosterone driven or too namby-pamby, it doesn't define with any particular group; ie, it's universal. Also, it has diluted the essential ingredient of membership, to belong to something.

More than a club was nicked from FC Barcalona, so maybe it was a good thing for Michael Nettlefold to have that European holiday in the middle of the season after all. Hopefully, he took in the atmosphere at Neu Camp and saw the benefits of that incredible culture. (If you ever want an example of a football club ideal, check out that club) But if we had to use someone else's idea, I couldn't think of a more appropriate one. How do you define our football club's history? Certainly not using the word "successful". None of us got to St Kilda from the bandwagon, (well perhaps the really young supporters), this club got its supporters by being interesting. Rightly and wrongly, we have a culture, and the task of those in charge is to use that culture to strengthen the club. This slogan is step one.

I love the accompanying photos of the human side of the club. We are more than a sporting organisation. We are a family. Some of our daughters got married and joined different families, some cousins left for different lives overseas, but we are together. It's great that our club is recognising that. We got the same idea as many of the other clubs slogans, but more subtle and more inclusive; us and you, not just you. We are more. More than a boring football club. Look at the other slogans of Hawthorn, Collingwood, Port, Carlton even Sydney. All they are is a name. We are more than a name, more than a sporting organisation. More than a football club.

We have had genuine heartbreak, genuine loss, sustained failure, and come through it all smiling on the other side. We have more than survived, we are thriving, despite our own supporters trying to destroy us, despite scandals, despite the AFL and the power clubs doing their best to keep us down. We're the Jewish or Irish immigrant community of the AFL; shoved into the ghettos, not considered for many jobs, marginalised and even nearly exterminated, we took the punches and still we are here, we sing and dance and live our life, our way.

We are St Kilda, we are much more than a football club.

I'm assuming that all the negativity in some of the suggested slogan in this thread is merely lighted hearted, good natured, self-depreciating humour.

To any poster whose sentiments don't fit this, all I can say is shame on you... but that won't be anyone on here, as we all know that only a true troll would post such things and actually mean them..., not a true Sainter.



As Austinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn so beautifully summed up, this slogan is us.

We have character, resilience, non-conformity, quirk, passion, insanity, non-conformity, fashion sense ('crusader' jumper aside ), individuality, just sheer you gotta' love the Saintas-ness..., we are the club for musos, artists and creative types...,
and despite the odds, we are still standing after 140 years!

All the others are actually just boring same-same-yawn football teams.

I also love the way images of club, supporters and suburb are intertwined.... and the slogan is even offset at a quirky angle... how Saintas is that!!!
