To delist any of those players would be foolish.

wouldn't be surprised if Shenton and Ferguson went
although I like Ferguson he may be surplus
Yeah, I see plenty in Dunell. Be surprised, and very disappointed if he got the arse.
Re: More Delisting to come
Now that we have Delaney, and assuming we'll get Bruce, I am fully expecting Gwilt to have a much better season than last. He was being played completely out of position.

Depending on how a couple front to pre season on the 4th and 18th could have a bearing as well.

Re: More Delisting to come
Why keep Jones over say Ferguson/Dunell/Shenton? Jones would be on more money which would free up more cap space. Also, Jones is 29 with far less scope for improvement. The common defence of Jones is that he is the teams only tagger but when we are going to finish bottom four anyway why bother? I'd rather rotate Curren/Ross/Newnes/Murdoch/Wright through a Joel Selwood for stages of a game because while they are likely to get beaten, it can be a valuable learning tool. Hayes, Montagna, Steven, Armitage and Geary should offer enough protection from a physical standpoint through the middle to not miss Jones.cwrcyn wrote:Maister, Gwilt, and Jones are all useful players. Maybe they shouldnt have kept him but he now isnt going anywhere as he was signed at the end of the season. The only ones likely to go are those on the last year of a contract who were signed last season. I suppose those players are Saad, TDL, Dunnel.
Re: More Delisting to come
Yeah I understand that but resigning Jones was a mistake IMO. Do we know who, as it stands, doesn't have a contract for next season?plugger66 wrote:

Every single player on the main list has a contract.
Re: More Delisting to come
Thanks plugger. In that case you'd think Saad and TDL are in trouble.plugger66 wrote:RW&B wrote:plugger66 wrote:

Gwilt?????????? Are you f****** serious???Gershwin wrote:Honestly I don't think we should have too much trouble finding players to de-list. De-listing any 2 of the following will have little effect on our performance short-term or long-term:
Saad
Dennis-Lane
Maister
Dunnell
Gwilt
Jones

Obviously they are morons because someone doesn't rate them ....sheesh the logic of some people. We should delist the other 30 morons on the list too. Actually I question the intelligence of the entire board sack them and bring in Foiney. Now there's a brain.

Re: More Delisting to come
I've got a novel idea;
Why don't we thank any de-listed players for their service, respect that they gave their all for OUR club whilst they were with us and wish them well for the future !!

And acknowledge how shattering it must be for each of them, even when it's the right decision for the club.Eastern wrote:I've got a novel idea;

Re: More Delisting to come
What position should Gwilt play?
Delaney, Bruce, Fisher, Dempster, Geary, Roberton, Gilbert, Wright (8)
Simpkin, Gwilt, Webster, Ferguson (4)

I've got a soft heart, so I'll say I don't care if he's the water boy. I'm pretty sure that he's earn't enough credits to avoid the 'don't come Monday' treatment from the club.
It's a shame ignorance isn't painful
