My concern with PSD is that gives them time to talk him round, up their offer etc.
He is a 10 year CHB. Must get it done

Not bad, decent deal, get's it done, reckon they don't want to lose face as much as anything else.falka wrote:Could we do 3 way with Sydney teams. Pick 41 to swans gws get Lamb, we get Bruce? Better for Sydney to get 41 then 48. Or they could have both picks.
Man I'm peaking out, hoping to get Bruce deal done.
They can sell Bruce for Lamb and they will be happy...
Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Just re-mention the names Mohr, Davis, Thomlinson, Jaksch, Gilham, Frost, Corr and Plowman to Bruce, then mention... crickets... then Delaney, then show highlights of Stanley this year in the backline... should do the trick. The fact that Cameron has pi$$ed him off can only help our cause too.8856brother wrote:Gubby Allan just suggesting that Bruce is a required player at GWS and there is an offer on the table. They want him to stay. Must say he didn't sound too convincing.
I doubt GWS will use pick 41, so just walk him to PSD with $750k on his head for his first year. Happy days... if GWS pick him up for $750k, then walk him to us the year after!

I am beginning to worry that we might miss out on Longer and or Bruce, seems to be a lot of stuffing around bt gws and the brions. This whole trade period is to long and tedious.Teflon wrote:I'm sticking with Jaxonsbobmurray wrote:I don't believe there is a Bruce deal, i think it sank the moment they went after Longerfalka wrote:Could we do 3 way with Sydney teams. Well there are still two trading days to go....which in previous years was an age.Stillwaiting wrote:

Personally I am less fussed if we miss on Longer as :
* History indicates that if your are in the Premiership Window that securing a good ruck seems to be about the easiest hole to fill. Also I personally am not a fan of getting very young rucks as they are very hit and miss. Better to get a mature ruckman.
* The pick we do not trade, should secure a good player
* That Hickey/Stanley should make an ok No1/No2 combo with Stanley playing as a ruck/forward
However I think the Saints will end up with both of them.

I do agree on the mature ruck thing, but I see some special stuff in Billy, reckon he is A grade potential, and for pick 25 its a bargain.saintsRrising wrote:Well there are still two trading days to go....which in previous years was an age.Stillwaiting wrote:

That's OK , Hickey kicks way better than Max Hudghton, and I still have a man crush on Max.andrewg wrote:We all realise Bruce kicks like Tom Hickey.....while he will be great we need to get used to very average disposal from this guy........what will be will be fellas...and ladies
( We just need our other backs to learn the Sam Fisher role, ie crumb the ball off our defender and rebound, much harder with defensive pressure, but the much aligned Gwilt is good at it ).

Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
All reports state that there will be a deal for Longer. Brisbane want better than 24 and we won't give it to them. I think this deal will probably be done before the deadline but not too long before it.
Who knows about Bruce, there is no news or official rumors anywhere I can find about the deal or lack thereof

IMO if we dont get Josh Bruce the trade period will be a failure! Bruce is the type of key defender we would build our defence around for the next decade without him we will still struggle against the big forwards...
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Bruce will come to us via the PSD. GWS wanna make him sweat and have no need for pick 41.

Brisbane are sitting on a stack of deals to many clubs. major bottle neck there...

Tend to agree with this, in which case we mightn't know the result until 10 Dec (if I've got that right).Old Mate wrote:Bruce will come to us via the PSD. GWS wanna make him sweat and have no need for pick 41.
If he does come via the PSD then there's no need to be calling the trade period a failure just yet, unless of course it just provides an easy way to take another cheap pot shot at the club.

This guy is behind 5 or 6 other key defenders at GWS and he's meant to be our saviour?
Trade period has been a great success, Bruce would be a nice finish.

Why do clubs keep giving GWS all the top picks. That gives them 1,2 & 14.

Agreed. Bruce would be the icing on the cake. Delaney is more likely to be an immediate contributor next season. Not so say I wouldn't love Bruce, but it's not make or break for the trade period. It's been a definite success already, Bruce and Longer would put it over the top.dragit wrote:Gotta be kidding me....WinnersOnly wrote:IMO if we dont get Josh Bruce the trade period will be a failure! Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Lions were royally screwed there.
So if we get Longer with pick 25 which the AFL.com is saying - we end with 3, 18, 19 Longer, Savage, Delaney, Bruce (psd)
Leaves us with a surplus of ruckmen but still a very successful trade period imo.
