Re: Keep Dal At Saints Campaign
Dal is the type of player who could easily play very well to his mid 30's. So if he stays he could actually be a significant part of our next period premiership team!
Thus, from a regeneration POV, he's not the most 'important' player to unload and 'get something for'.
With this in mind, he is definitely worth a mid first round pick. If we can't get that, then I say we should keep him. The reported $650K is overs IMHO, however, if it's balanced out by less money in the following years, then that'd be fine, as we'd have the cap space to pay it this year.
(Btw, I'm not worried re the 'he takes a tag thing'. The Dud is so quick he's very hard to tag. And he also has a very neat trick at stoppages. When an enemy tries to block his access to the contest, he doesn't bother wrestling, just slips around and enters the fray from a different point. Through a side door, so to speak. Watch him next time we play.)
So I'm very happy keep Dal...
Just one big concern though... does Dal really want to stay???
I ask, coz... Compare 2013 to 2012. When Lenny went down, Dal really stood up, increased his inside ball winning (he's always be both an inside and outside mid IMHO), and played his best ever season for us. (Again IMHO.)
So, what was with Dal's BJ-esque cruise-mode last season???
Is Dal's fire still burning???
I want to know the answer to that (and so should everyone else)... before re-signing him!!!

He said the decision to let Dal Santo go was difficult for everyone involved.
"I'm sure there will be a lot of members who are unhappy to lose a guy of Nick's calibre, who they have supported for a number of years.
"The approach we're taking we like to think is very strategic, very considered.
"We don't deny that members will be upset with some of these decisions, but we like to think we are making the best decisions for the club and that's what we are charged with doing."
He said Riewoldt and Montagna were hit hard by the Dal Santo move.
"I think it's difficult for those guys full stop ... they have a heavy heart as we all do but it's the reality of the business these days."

Re: Keep Dal At Saints Campaign
A lot of bulldust gets floated around this time of year. Dal wanted out and he's gone. NO cost to his new club, lucky for North they picked a Saints player, otherwise they might have had to deal.saintbrat wrote:http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl ... 6742374828

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Could have gone to Fremantle!
Would've hurt if he went to the Bummers too.
