Re: Why do all these dudes suddenly want to come to the Sain
I grew up on the Peninsula and I still spend as much time there as I can and so speaking from personal experience I couldn't understand why you wouldn't want to joint the Saints and live on the coast of one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Could be that the new brigade are being incited by a stunning bay life by Seaford. I'm thinking about starting up a coffee shop there.

Finances - irrelevant re a going concern. Equalisation funds will sort that out to an extent.
I'll honestly get back to you once I have seen this years Bal Sheet and compared it to the last couple to see where we stand financially.

but again, like the position of Finances, the measurements of best prcatice is near on impossible when you are in an uneven playing field, equalisation fund, FIXture, Blockbusters, stadium deals, F&S, SC, draft all skewed for the Industry of the AFL competition as a whole to make money.BigMart wrote: every club could (even Brisbane) but need to look at position relative to th wider competition and check our performance vs competitors....

You are seriously not comparing any AFl club to those Titans?BigMart wrote:Man U, LA Lakers, Barcelona, Real..... Great clubs are successful clubs... It's the true indicator
No SC, one team per town, EPL destroyed as a competition with only four teams able to win it each year.
The whole structure of the AFL is for the competition as a whole to be strong - Socialism of football. MAn U, Lakers etc are individual organisations who look after themselves and are privately owned.

However you completely disregard the cyclical nature of the competition. ladder position is an indicator of the AFL rules. it is designed for this to happen, it cannot be a KPI.BigMart wrote:But in the overall system ...... Board Stability - I am NOT a pollyanna. I argued vigourously against getting rid of the Butters regime who had be stable and financially responsible. Under Mr Right our finances have gone downhill in a big way7.
However outr board is stable, a smooth transition to a new president, a successful organisational review where the main players were endorsed for the coming season, a CEO leaving after 5 years in the job. All very stable.
The lies and sabatage swallowed by some has been shown to be a complete and utter farce, borne out by the way our trading has been so successful.
Performance and ladder position are totally seperate. There is a world of difference between being beaten by 4 and 10 goals per week especially if the team on the whole is improving. However the ladder position may be terrible.
Only if you accept that the measures are actually measurable and benchmarked, which they are not and cannot be die to the skewed rules of the AFL competition.BigMart wrote:These very measures are the responsibility of the management of the club
But it wasn't us. Even though there was a concerted effort by fifth columnists within the Saints to wreck this trade period and destabilise the club with rumour and lies, Summers has made sure it has fallen flat on its face.BigMart wrote:Melbourne found themselves in serious trouble last year.... If that were us, WB, North.... Big trouble
the club is stable, the trading period has been successful, and it is moving in the right direction.
But dont worry, I am sure you will have plenty of time to moan about our results next season. We are in for a torrid time next year, but we all know it, and look for the list to be rebuilt.
What is obvious? Where are the facts? I deal in facts and I see none forthcoming.BigMart wrote:Too hard for me to understand.... Just stated the obvious....

All i see is confirmation bias from you from spurious and uncorroborated innuendo and scuttlebutt.
You put two and two together and get 1000.
Until FACTS emerge about all the above I wont declare chicken little like.
However when the facts emerge I will evaluate them and make a judgement.

I don't understand Finey and Big marts obsession with finding problems with everything we do. Why don't you start a ticket and take out the board Mart? They are obviously destroying the club according to you so why not challenge them. We have never recruited or traded anything of any worth, every decision has negatively effected us in someway and so on. I couldn't be f%$#ed following any organisation I considered so dis-functional and pointless. I would take over and put a match to the place and see if we could buy a Man U membership with the insurance money.joffaboy wrote:Whose reality?BigMart wrote:You should go into politics Joffa...... I'd be buying a Gooners' membership with the insurance dosh, though. Glazers use Man U like an ATM, whereas our man Arsene is starting to reap the rewards of the fiscal discipline required to get through the repayment of the new stadium. Example - last 5 years AW has a nett 20M quid from transfers. Man City and Chelsea have a nett deficit of 1.5B, yes, billion, from transfers. And, the Glazers keep flogging tranches of Man U shares on US stock exchanges, and doing debt for equity swaps.
Mesut Ozil helps, too.

Re: Why do all these dudes suddenly want to come to the Sain
Savage, Bruce and Delaney are all fringe players who weren't in their teams best 22. At St Kilda the have obviously been told they will get regular games. Is there much more to get?
Longer is a more interesting one, though the only other club who showed significant interest (Hawthorn) obviously decided on recruiting a readymade ruckman. Are we a rabble on the level of Brisbane? No. Are we operating at the same level of competence of most AFL teams? No

Proves that arguing with extremists with polemic views gets you nowhere.
Seems nothin would convince you because you are set in your opinions. Pretty sad state to not be rational.
So without any proof you will continue to just pot the club?
Its the vibe is it?
Oh well, rational people tried to reason with you.
Pity

You can't really be from Cairns then, you might as well be drinking Mount Gay with a little umbrella and a strawberry in it up there. If you were from Cairns you would down a 700ml bottle of bundy for breakfast and take off through croc infested waters in your tinny trying to remember where you worked.

Need a quote on on where I said we will fold by 2017..., so I know it is fabricated sensational comments to help attack credibility to help an argument? I did say we are in a precarious position... On and off field and management is what got us there?! Is that so unbelievable...
Joffa who would read that rant?
Those dramatic long quotes are something I gloss over and ignore if they are just attacking someone's POV because it doesn't fit their beliefs.... You will never convince me to think how you think I should... I have never been bullied into going along with what people want... I couldn't care less what you, or any others think of my opinions, you obviously do care because it doesn't conform

Excellent comment.
You have obviously considered all the facts.
You have done the analysis and made carefully considered and objective comments.
I'm especially impressed with the way you have addressed the objections to your point of view.

Truth is... Never ever posted those comments
I did post something to that effect but not as sensational, so it doesn't help the character assassination as much...
We are in a precarious position..... And why is that a difficult thing to understand
