We have added a ruckman in Longer who with Hickey will be our ruckman for the next 10 years.
We will add 2 key backman in Bruce and Delaney who will be around for the next 6-10 years, Bruce for 10, Delaney for at least 6.
We will add 4 midfielders to the list in Savage and picks 3, 18 and 19.
We have given up a slow one dimensional ruckman and a midfielder who will be 30 before 2014 starts.
Pretty sensational performance by all involved.
Longer, Hickey, Bruce, Delaney, 4 midfielders
Now all we need is another 14 plus quality players

None of Longer, Hickey, Savage, Delaney, Bruce are even proven AFL players let alone future Stars

Longer (who is yet to be traded) is the best chance

Draft picks are never certain stars.... Xavier Clarke (5) and Luke Ball (2) from the super draft never/haven't reached expected or hoped potential heights ..... Due to various circumstances
Nor did
R.Clarke (8), Brooks (6), Ferguson (21), Penny (19), Maguire (21), Watts (17), McQualter (17), Howard (26), Armitage (9), McEvoy (9), Lynch (13), Cripps (24), Ross (25)

None close to A Grade

Some barely VFL.... Some barely AFL.... Some GOPs

Draft picks don't ensure success??

I don't think you need 22 stars you need quality depth that can handle them selves and a handful of genuine stars to add polish. The Hawks are a great team because they have about 28 players that would be first picked at any club not necessarily all stars just solid citizens.

Delaney will be at least a solid key backman even if not a super star. The debut game on youtube suggests he is very capable against the gorillas.I saw a game with Bruce last year and he looked okay and I actually said at the time on here we should look at poaching him. Both aren't proven as regulars but both look at least like they could do better than anyone else currently on our list.

Savage is pretty well a know quantity with an upside of still being young and with a possible improvement with game time. Hickey was probably close to over taking Mc Evoy last year so you would expect he is pretty much going to be at least an acceptable ruckman. Longer looks like an upgrade on Mc Evoy with some very good traits.

I'm liking what we have done this trade period so far.

I lost patience with Big Mac this year. I think he could still make it but his pace and poor tap work didn't inspire confidence.

Picks 24 & 25 have been discussed as a possible trade with Port Adelaide for pick 14.
Is that fair value?

Port are looking to trade in a player for a 20s pick but not prepared to give up 14 to get him.
They are looking to buy 2 off 20s picks for pick 14 then use only one of them to trade the player in.
Correct. Port asking for our 24 and 25 in Exchange for pick 14. They need a pick in 20's to get Polec from the Lions.

Thing is..... I thought we were swapping 24 for Hawks compo pick........

+1
Ben struggles with tap outs. Hickey gave us first use in last 4 games or so when he was used. I am over the moon with Longer replacing him as a ruck. May take 18 months to show why.

Yes it now a done deal.
We gave Hawthorn pick 24 and 59 but got pick 19 in return.
This thread is now redundant!

If we end up with pick 3 18 19 for midfielders (and Elshaugh does a good job and gets 2/3 right) + Longer Savage Bruce Delaney

Id say we have done very well and the re-build is on in earnest.

Grab a couple more talls in 2014 and we are back on track for a 2019 GF appearance.
