What Are Picks 24 & 25 Worth

Post: # 1406769Post ace »

We presently have picks in the National draft
3
18
24
25
41
59
77
95

The club has been making loud noises through the press that they want 3 picks in the top 20.
There are only three ways to get the 3 picks in the top 20.
1 Trade a player or players for a top 20 pick.
2 Trade a player or players and pick or picks for a top 20 pick.
3 Trade at least 2 picks for a top 20 pick.

Without including trading players out, that means in practice trading picks 24 and 25 for a top 20 pick.

What single pick is a fair trade for both picks 24 and 25 combined.

We are getting pick 19 off the Hawks for pick 24 so we dont have to do anything.

Hawthorn have given us what turns out to be pick 18 and Shane Savage for Ben McEvoy.
That gives us 2 picks in the top 20.

Why are they giving us their Buddy Franklin compensation pick 19 for or pick 24.
Who are we including or which other pick are we including.

A higher pick which i cant remember that we would use. It was another part of the deal.

By the sounds of things we will be parting with 24 or 25 to get Longer and 77 to get Delaney. No word on what Bruce will cost

I would've thought 24 is already tied up in our deal with Hawks to get pick 19.

Yep pick 19 is ours. We will need to give up another pick or one of our picks in the teens for longer as brissy rightly will not accept pick 25 for longer. The other option is a 3 way trade

Other option is PSD

Regarding the pick 19 and pick 24 swap, is there anything in the public domain that confirms this?

The fact that Hawthorn kicked and screamed when they only received pick 19 as compensation for Buddy lends weight to the view that the Buddy compensation pick is theirs to keep.

We will not get Longer in PSD as longer"s manager has stated if he doesn't get traded he will remain at the lions

Thought he was uncontracted and has told the Lions he want to go home.

So that means he will accept a new contract from the Lions?

Doesn't sound right.

This from jaxons on a different thread

jaxons has been pretty accurate on trades this period

We have added a ruckman in Longer who with Hickey will be our ruckman for the next 10 years.
We will add 2 key backman in Bruce and Delaney who will be around for the next 6-10 years, Bruce for 10, Delaney for at least 6.
We will add 4 midfielders to the list in Savage and picks 3, 18 and 19.
We have given up a slow one dimensional ruckman and a midfielder who will be 30 before 2014 starts.
Pretty sensational performance by all involved.
Hasn't happened yet but if it gets done then I'll agree with you.

It has all happened magnifisaint, Longer is a Saint one way or another, Delaney is done for pick 77, and Bruce is 100% guaranteed.
Only thing left is to see who we are left with at picks 3, 18, and 19

He does want to come home but I'd safely assume he doesn't want to burn Brisbane either

If we pick up Bruce for 41 without losing Fisher, and then get Delaney for 77 and Longer for 25 we will have done very well indeed.

Pick 19 has not happened yet.

Picks 24 & 25 have been discussed as a possible trade with Port Adelaide for pick 14.
Is that fair value?

Port are looking to trade in a player for a 20s pick but not prepared to give up 14 to get him.
They are looking to buy 2 off 20s picks for pick 14 then use only one of them to trade the player in.
