Great end to a trade period if all of that is true (incl. keeping fish and getting bruce via PSD, with Melbourne not picking him up)Bowey Boy wrote:http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/s ... 6743039128

Deepest sympathy to the media if it all proves correct.

Re: Billy Longer
Wow. What great news. We seem to have done really well in this trade period. Hopefully we pick up Jolly too. His IP alone would be worth the get for a season or two and he makes a nice back up player.
Re: Billy Longer
Very true, Hickey, Pearce, Stanley and Longer all learning from Jolly on the training track would be fantastic. I would only rookie Jolly though.Cairnsman wrote:Wow. What great news. Re: Billy Longer
Hmmm... Interesting. I would have flicked Sam due to what I consider some loose gun'ish behavior.
That being said, if the club is offering pick #44'ish, a pick it won't use and not offering Fisher... I guess it doesn't want to lose something for nothing
Strategy seems to make sense

Longer>McEvoy
Happy with this!! Longer is much more agile then the Big Mac. Will suit the modern day footy better.

Gee if we land Longer, Bruce, Delaney and Savage, and still have three top 20 picks, I will be very happy.
Would certainly soften the blow of losing big mac and a 30 yo Dal.

Any young players with half a brain would nominate us to play with. Opportunity for big contacts in the future if you're any good is massive.

Not sure that Sam deserves some of the dis that people on here give him. I'm pretty sure he hasn't committed a crime and all the talk about his behaviour is just that....talk. If were a young bloke in the system I'd want to have some freedom in my down time. Cut the blokes some slack he's AA and served the club well.skeptic wrote:Hmmm... Interesting. Re: Billy Longer
With Longer, Bruce and Delaney set to join the Saints are structures are starting to shape up very well in a year or twos time as we will have a much deeper group of talls..
With hopefully 3 picks inside 25 for 3 mids this year....Steven can also look forward to the midfield blooming as well. Moreso as one would expect some good picks next year as well.

Re: Billy Longer
IF what Ralph writes is true we will have landed
Savage
Longer
Delaney
Bruce
and three picks in the top 20
Interesting three nominated the Saints over other clubs.
So much for some negative sad sacks on here crapping on about the club and Pelchan.
Once again shows the ignorance of some people.

Lance or James??

Me too. Good outcome if it turns out that way.
I was trying to find out where Bruce was taken in the draft but couldn't see him listed in the 2010 rookie draft or 2011 draft list. Anyone know how he came to be at GWS?

Pre listed player. Same as Shiel, Treloar etc. They weren't in the draft.st.byron wrote:saint-stu wrote:Gee if we land Longer, Bruce, Delaney and Savage, and still have three top 20 picks, I will be very happy.

Re: Billy Longer
Now that we're getting him I can now be bothered to read what has been said about him. From The Age, the 2011 draft report:
8 BILLY LONGER
(Northern Knights, 18, 201cm, 98kg)
The most highly rated ruckman all year. Mobile, athletic and fast. Super smart, especially at stoppages. Comes with an off-the-field brain and leadership potential, too.

Thanks OM. Looked for it online but couldn't find any info about it. Do you know did they choose the pre-listed guys in 2010 or 2011?Old Mate wrote:

That's just great isn't it - our disarray strategy goes right out the window. We had a plan people - please stick to it in future. We'll never get to be a rabble at this rate.......Eastern wrote:stinger wrote:kinda answers all our questions, doesn't it
Billy Longer is heading to Seaford, possibly for pick 25
St Kilda will in coming days secure North Melbourne key defender Luke Delaney for the bargain-basement price of pick 77.
And while Greater Western Sydney wants Sam Fisher and a draft pick for key defender Josh Bruce, the Saints are baulking at that price.
They aren’t offering Fisher and will secure Canberra-born tall Bruce in the pre-season draft if GWS does not accept its offer of pick 41.
It will now have picks three, 18 and 19, with the expectation that 25 will be enough to acquire Longer.
St Kilda has not ruled out recruiting ex-Collingwood ruckman Darren Jolly even if they acquire Longer, but clearly he would be more of an insurance player.
It's all starting to come together nicely !!
