Time to move on!!
Today I say good bye to one of my favourite Saints of all time in Nick Dal Santo. He was at his peak a sublime player of rare class described by Kevin Sheedy as the modern day Ian Stewart. I gained enormous satisfaction watching him play but I will survive, I have expereienced worse. Afterall I said good bye to the greatest of them all in 1994 that almost killed me, my hero Tony Lockett. 3 years later I nearly saw a premiership. I have to admit the last 12 months watching the great players of 2004-2010 era has made me quite sad watching 'dead men walking.' Their era is over at the Saints & I am looking forward to moving on to a new group of young, hungry, exciting players. We have been agressive in trading, we have taken some risks & we will keep working towards an exciting list that can challenge again.

I reckon we should cheer him. It would confuse the <redacted> out of everyone, and possibly be the only thing to look forward to when playing the kangaroots.thejiggingsaint wrote:He may well be wearing a Roos jumper, but NDS will FOREVER be a Saint in my eyes! boo him? never in a million!
*Allegedly.

Re: Time to move on!!
How have we been agressive in trading? We have been aggressive in off loading established players but I want to see a trade where we land some young talent that others want. We have been aggressive in getting draft picks but anyone can do that if a window is closing but attracting quality is another. I hope on Monday we come out and pick up a few players who we want and they want us and have lots to offer as far as building for our next tilt at a premiership.
I love(d) Dal too but I support the club, the players will always come and go.

I won't be supporting NDS, the Roos player, i'm not a fan of players that play for multiple clubs.
In my mind Plugger is a Swans player

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

So I gather Schnieds, Roberton, Dempster, Hickey et al don't rate for you seeing they played for other clubsbobmurray wrote:I won't be supporting NDS, the Roos player, i'm not a fan of players that play for multiple clubs.

Fair question, interestingly,i only apply that logic to those that go, not to those that come our way.loris wrote:So I gather Schnieds, Roberton, Dempster, Hickey et al don't rate for you seeing they played for other clubsbobmurray wrote:I won't be supporting NDS, the Roos player, i'm not a fan of players that play for multiple clubs.

Re: Time to move on!!
I think I am entitled to a weekend of sadness. Some players are special, you feel like you know them. Each family day, open training Dal was always willing to give his time. My kids adored him because of that. Can add Kosi to that list also. They never hurried past, spoke to us like we were friends. We will miss them both.

I still think of Goddard as a saint.
Him in the essendon jumper still looks wrong.
Nick Dal Santo will always be a saint in my mind. What a legend.

Ball is the one that hurts
I don't blame either Dal or Goddard, they left after, not before, our window had closed.
Nee!

Ex players don't merit any of my energy/passion I'm afraid to say. I'll always respect NDS, but he is now (sadly) another ex-Saints player.

Re: Time to move on!!
I am sad to see Nicky Dal go, but I do admire him, because he always said that he was prepared to go to another club providing it was a win win situation, and I think that is what happened.
He realised we would get a higher draft pick via Free Agency, so that is I believe the path both he and the club mutually agreed to with no malice.
He may play for North now, but I believe his heart will always be at St.Kilda.
Thanks NDS for all those wonderful memories.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Re: Time to move on!!
NDS played 260 games for us & will go down as a Saints man when he retires. Cant blame the guy for wanting to enjoy his last 3 years of his career when we are on another path. I am as one eyed as they come but this was completed with a lot of class & respect, full marks to all parties involved.

Nor would Hamill, Gherig, etc rate either.
