Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
dal santo...the most skillful stkilda player to pull on a boot...for this club
idiotic decision to get rid of a player of this calibre
Is Pelchen being paid by Demetriou to bring ruin to stkilda?

Maybe that's why he was at odds with Watters, Watters realised early days we have a strange way of going about our business...ralphsmith wrote:dal santo...the most skillful stkilda player to pull on a boot...for this club

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Have you read or heard the interview with his manager?ralphsmith wrote:dal santo...the most skillful stkilda player to pull on a boot...for this club

He wanted to go....
What would you have done?
Personally I think the compo pick we receive is unders. Essentially rated the same as Colin bloody Sylvia.
But he wanted to go. Why keep someone who doesn't want to be at the club?

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
I have faith in Pelchen to avoid picking an Eddy, McQualter, Peake type.
He is a hardened, seasoned, analytical and realistic recruiter. He has a vision and has more qualifications than any keyboard heroes on this forum.
We are all sad, just like when plugger left, but we need to not boo NDS and be thankful for his passion and service.
I am confident the Pelch will get us players with skill, hunger, and the right attitude to step up to the next level. His reputation precedes him and he will never be happy with second best.

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
When they abolish compensation picks from next year, we will feel at least relieved that we got something for BJ and Dal when we were in the phase of development where we lose players to FA.
Sorry that Dal is going - my son's favourite player. But we either rebuild or don't, half measures will hurt in the long run.
We have experienced players on every line, and developing players with them....add Savage, Longer, Delaney, Bruce and a 3 early DPs and we start to look better for a comeback to the top 8 in a couple of years (OK maybe 3)

Sorry, Dal is not the most skilful player the Saints have had. You may not be old enough to have seen Ian Stewart. Stevie won 2 brown lows with us and 1 with Richmond.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

what a sad thread
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
If Nick was required to play out his contract in 2014, we would have lost him as a free agent in 12 months.
They will be looking at changing free agency compensation at the end of this trade period.
In 12 months we would probably get less compo.
The club has done the right thing for the future.
We do not want to look back in a few years and say..........
"Why did the club not do more in the rebuild phase?"
"Why did they take the easy route that was bound to fail?"

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
Pelchen is not patching holes. He is doing a complete renovation, and I for one, believe we will win more than 8 games in 2014.
And we will NOT lose to the pussies the way we did in 2013. We will run them much closer.
We will lose by less than 5 goals.
We WILL beat the cheating swans in NZ next year.
I will dredge up this post when each of my predictions come to pass.

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion
Dal would not be playing many more finals for St Kilda, and even if he was still around in 4 years he'd not be at his peak. Had the Lions traded Black and Brown years ago they would have a better future than they do now. Harsh but true. We effectively turned down Delaney and pick 26 for Dal and will now get Delaney plus pick 22. A young player who fills a hole and an early 2nd round draft will serve us better than watching Dals brillience slowly fade and be wasted in a rebuilding team. I love Dal and his name means "of the Saints". I for one wish him all the best. Its a harsh call, but the right one, just as Barry Hall for Dal Santo helped us compete for a flag when the rebuild of 2000-2003 bore fruit in 2009-10.

Wayne42 sorry for the typo it was supposed to read "Stewie" but your stupid reaction to a typo is proof that you don't need to have a long neck to be a goose.

Our backline will have far more grunt.
Remember how many close ones we SHOULDA won, coupled with the above improvements,
as well as renewed hunger from Frodo-
8 games or more is achievable IMHO.
