Re: Billy Longer
Brian Speaking over on BF reckons it won't happen. He is on the money quite often.
With other clubs involved we probably would need to give up too much.

Is it weird that a new coach would be away on holiday during this trade period? Pretty important time to be involved, particularly when most of your good young players are wanting to bail.
perhaps he's dyslexic and read all the players are going to bail as al the players are going to Bali?

Lance or James??

I really hope this deal doesn't happen there will be way too many good mids around the late teens. Keep our picks saints.

It's funny how peoples thoughts so easily swing 180 degrees based purely on the latest bout of speculation.
Can't wait for the end of the Trade period, at least then we'll know what was crap and what was fact...

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Gosh I think if I were an AFL player the last club I would want to be traded to would be Essendon.saintbrat wrote:http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/st ... 6741920174

If he picks the Bombers over us, we have serious problems as a club. The Bombers won't even have a better pick than us--it will be a travesty if he goes there, over us!

He was at the club yesterday and said he wanted to come to us.WinnersOnly wrote:Jaxons are you still confident he will be coming to Saints ? Things change so no big deal if he has changed his mind !
We were keen to take him but the Dal scenario has taken our focus off everything else.
Wait for the free agency allocation of picks to be over tomorrow and then we will step into gear.

Re: Billy Longer
We have Jolly in the bag and don't have to trade to get him, so we don't have to be bullied into to getting Longer.
We are keen though, but keen also on others so we have to see what picks we have to play with.

Re: Billy Longer
I hope we get Longer he's not nessessarily a 'need' like Bruce and Delaney however he's a far more talented prospect who could add both immediate and long term benefits. He'll be a star and I hope he's right up there as a priority.jaxons wrote:We have Jolly in the bag and don't have to trade to get him, so we don't have to be bullied into to getting Longer.

All of which suggests that Dal going as a FA is still possible.jaxons wrote:We have Jolly in the bag and don't have to trade to get him, so we don't have to be bullied into to getting Longer.

Re: Billy Longer
I would just trade pick 17 to Brissy for Longer and be done with it. I realise clubs want to negotiate the best deal possible but at the same time you want to remain respectful and keep relationships positive between clubs. Point is Longer is worth every bit of pick 17 at the very least.

Absolutely agree.plugger66 wrote:Still havent seen one person tell me how our forward line is set up with Longer in the side. remember Longer has kicked one behind in 9 games. I didnt want to lose ben but he gone and can live with that because I thought Hickey would ruck with stanley doing the small amount needed for Hickey to rest and Jolly being at sandy for when he is required. I just cant see how all these guys fit into the 2 sides so they all develop bar Jolly of course.
Reluctantly accepted the McEvoy deal because I thought the plan was to ruck Hickey and Stanley. Jolly as a 'just in case' makes sense. Pierce and Holmes developing.
Get Bruce not Longer.

I thought we were one ruck long so had to lose one of the three and they decided to lose the one who would bring the best deal so we could get another top 20 pick. Made some sense. Hickey and Stanley in tandem appealed to me with Jolly as a coach/emergency and Pierce in the nursery.
Really dunno why we need to throw another top 20 pick on another ruckman. Those 3 blokes cant all play together in the same side ever anyways. Seems odd to me. Maybe Pelchen outsmarting himself. Who knows. Hes on the big bucks for these decisions so ill trust him but im a bit sceptical at the moment.
Sounds like they still believe Stanley can make it as a key fwd... interesting times...
