None taken at all. So many rumours this time of year, however jaxons has the runs on the board re recent trades
Lance or James??

Re: Billy Longer
think that's the plan... develop Stanley forward with lee for life after roo. The extra two ruckman, Jolly being short term to help support and develop Hickley. don't mind this as Stanley could come good as a forward...Devilhead wrote:5 ruckmen on the list doesnt make sense - unless of course we are going to persevere with Stanley up forward or trade him

3, 14, 19, 20... but only one free spot on the listjoffaboy wrote:Maybe, and if that was the case, we would have 3,14,19,20, and would probably look to keep NDS?WinnersOnly wrote:It would have to be Stanley to Port for their first draft selection or similar...either way Longer for a late first round draft selection is pretty good!magnifisaint wrote:Something really brewing, but if Longer were to happen then Jolly joining doesn't make sense
Getting very very interesting (if jaxons mail is as spot on as Mac to hawks)

Re: Billy Longer
Jolly, could be primarily development for Holmes and Hickley... maybe the extra's are a back up plan if Holmes is a total mistake.. could we see Holmes developed as a forward and Stanley traded next year?FQF wrote:Don't understand why we drafted Holmes thoughShanghaiSaint wrote:think that's the plan... develop Stanley forward with lee for life after roo. Holmes is a bit of a wild card at the moment could be anything or nothing.

Jaxons ur a man in the know.jaxons wrote:Not sure how you get 5 ruckman?Devilhead wrote:5 ruckmen on the list doesnt make sense - unless of course we are going to persevere with Stanley up forward or trade him
Pierce won't play next year and Stanley is not a ruckman.
Leaves Hickey, Longer and Jolly.
By the time Pierce is ready to play Jolly will have retired.
If we get longer then stanley is gone surely ?
I disagree on one point. Stanley is a ruckman or nothing.
Hes definitely not a fwd or back.
Cant kick a goal at VFL level so not sure how hes going to kick any at AFL.
If we get pick 14 for him ill be rapt.
So whats that so far ?

Stanley could develop into something... think 2014 is going to make or break him... if he can't settle into a position and show something.. think he will have a new home or delisted in 2015.savatage wrote:If we got Longer I'd move Stanley on straight away.

Re: Billy Longer
He could - or he could also develop into nothing. Longer would be an upgrade on him & we can't have the list badly stacked with similar athletic talls. Thing is we need players gone so we can use our draft picks & there's no point having too many of the same type on the list.ShanghaiSaint wrote:Stanley could develop into something... think 2014 is going to make or break him... if he can't settle into a position and show something.. think he will have a new home or delisted in 2015.savatage wrote:If we got Longer I'd move Stanley on straight away.

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Billy Longer
As dragit keeps saying, the numbers are all out of shape at the moment, especially if this trade comes off.
So it's pretty clear that there are more trades to come, probably more delistings too.
Hopefully it all comes together.
But if we essentially outmanoeuvred Hawthorn by shipping off Mac at a decent price so that they'd be unable to get Longer and then on trade a part of the Mac deal for Longer instead, I'd say big win.

If this all goes down, then perhaps all those excess draft picks will be packaged up to move up to the #1 spot. Maybe...what a ridiculous time of year this is!FQF wrote:As dragit keeps saying, the numbers are all out of shape at the moment, especially if this trade comes off.

Pelchen is committed to using three picks in the top 20.kp83 wrote:If this all goes down, then perhaps all those excess draft picks will be packaged up to move up to the #1 spot. Would have only gone after pick 1 using players .
Re: Billy Longer
Be pretty bemusing if this comes off UNLESS Stanley to Port is reignited. Hmmm
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Re: Billy Longer
Could possibly be the dumbest move ever by the Saints. Surely it wont happen. I really hope to get more small forwards and more ruckman and just forget about mids. be on the bottom for 5 years and then fold. lets be honest this cannot happen. It makes no sense at all.
Re: Billy Longer
If Port give us Pick 14 for Stanley I think Kochie would sack their recruiting dept on the spotWinnersOnly wrote:It would have to be Stanley to Port for their first draft selection or similar...either way Longer for a late first round draft selection is pretty good!magnifisaint wrote:Something really brewing, but if Longer were to happen then Jolly joining doesn't make sense
So far overs to us its not funny..someone tell me exactly what hes done to wararnt being more than the Pick 47 we paid for him?
Likewise I dont think Longer is worth a late teens pick IMO

Longer and two mids with our first 2 picks = Win ...
Just not sure how we fit Bruce in with regards to our list & selections ....?
Longer has the potential to be better than Macca...
Jack Newnes happy to be a Saint !!!! PS and to hit a target !!!
