Who Goddard
Armed with the first pick in the 2014 National draft next year, do we go for Hugh Goddard, cousin of whats-his-name.

Without know what the final list looks like and how our pre-season will turn out...who can you see us beating next year?borderbarry wrote:I expect that our first pick next year will be five or six.

Re: Who Goddard
I can see both of those sides improving a lot next year… us not so much, I think we have a couple more years of pain yet.Cairnsman wrote:Pick one...could be. Does that mean we won't be capable of beating GWS or Melbourne next season?
18th is a real possibility…

Who do I see us beating this year? Carlton for a start. Gold Coast and GWS, Melbourne, maybe Brisbane and GWS and Adelaide if we get to play them in Victoria for a change. I would fancy our chances against Richmond and Collingwood too if the circumstances are right.

Re: Who Goddard
I think it's possible that GWS might beat us next year and I'd expect a similar reaction to the one after the Gold Coast loss in round one.borderbarry wrote:Who do I see us beating this year? I think Carlton will improve significantly in MMs second season...can't see a win there.
I'm expecting Richmond to aim for top 4...can't see a win there.
I'm expecting Adelaide to be somewhere between 4 -6...can't see a win there.
I'm expecting the Pies to maintain a holding pattern or sneak into the top 4...can't see a win there.
Melbourne might improve and at this stage it's a 50/50.
I expect Brisbane to slide so maybe a win there if it's in Melbourne.

Re: Who Goddard
His form is nowhere near as good as Patrick McCartin's. When you star at the national champs as a 17 year old you are on your way. Have you seen McCartin play at all?jaxons wrote:Goddard will not be No.1 pick next year.
No. 1 pick next year will be Peter Wright from the Calder Cannons.
You can take that to the bank!

I hope Goddard is still available at 18.

Re: Who Goddard
I'd rather miss out and win 7-8 games than bottom out completely and lose all but 2-3 games.
Melbourne, even with Paul Roos, won't do much and GWS have added Mumford and Shaw who, while perfectly serviceable, won't win games off their own boots for them.
Improvement is a must. Even at the cost of a potential gun
