Exactly correct.starsign wrote:As I understand it WC Eagles bid their 1st rounder 6? for McDonald so North must use theirs (8) to secure him
26 and Delaney for Dal Santo...or no deal.
Seems simple but Kangas must think we'll bend over for them and can't understand why we won't accept merely a "Thank you" for trading Dal Santo to them.
Last time I looked they were still an opposition team.

SEN still reporting that North have given us an ultimatum to get the deal done over the weekend. I see North as people who are trying to be BULLIES who aren't very good at being BULLIES !!

Err, we can keep him, not a problem. North have to make it hard for us to say "no". At the moment they're just a bunch of tossers.

North are using the Essendon approach to trading, they want everything and everyone... But aren't prepared to trade any players or picks...

That makes it easy. We just tell them they haven't offered anything to our satisfaction so the deal is off. We keep Dal, he's happy, we're happy. Delaney goes in the PSD. We're very happy.Eastern wrote:SEN still reporting that North have given us an ultimatum to get the deal done over the weekend.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
I must say that I'm getting more used to offloading players for picks. Part of me wants the core of our great '04-'10 side to play out their careers as saints, but it's just not going to help us get back up the ladder. And by trading away another one or two experienced players that could mean we get pick 1 or 2 next year instead of 3 or 4 as well as the picks received through trades.
If we accepted 26 and Delaney for Dal we'd be in a very strong position to draft a good sized chunk of our next good team. Picks 3, 17, 18 and 26 could net us some very good players. There are about 20-25 very good prospects in this draft and a few are bound to slip ala Grundy/Darling.

When that little Kray brother Scott misses out we should send round Rooey and a few others to punch his shoulder and see if he cries.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
Isn't the rumour we have offered him a 3 year deal ?.. Don't know the exact amount but let's say its 3 years @ $250k per year. He could nominate for the PSD and nominate $500k for a 1 year contract. Melbourne couldn't afford him but we offer 3 year deal wth year 2&3 at $125k per year.Life Long Saint wrote:Unless Melbourne get Delaney.remboy wrote:That makes it easy. Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
I was listening at the time and I think you'll find that SEN reported the rumoured ultimatum incorrectly.
They were supposed to say that St Kilda had given NM an ultimatum over the Dal Santo deal and not NM had given the Saints one.
It made absolutely no sense when they said what they said unless you switched the Clubs around.
Just another case of SEN being stupendously wrong.

No they were correct, just like Essendon gave the Saints an ultimatum on Joey, Collingwood gave the Saints an ultimatum on Riewoldt, and Port gave us an ultimatum on Stanley.Mr Magic wrote:I was listening at the time and I think you'll find that SEN reported the rumoured ultimatum incorrectly.

We are so incompetent we didn't give those more deserving clubs the deal they wanted on our contracted players.
We are in disarray and are a circus, we are a rabble. No wonder there has been a max exodus of players.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
North want him for free as a FA, as it costs them nothing (and why would they not???)...so no surprise that it is dragging out.
What the Saints need is for more than one club to want him.
