What bit of Sam Mitchell, Brad Sewell, Jordan Lewis, Shane Burgoyne, Luke Hodge, Isaac Smith, Liam Sheils, Cyril Rioli and AFl Premiers Hawthorn and VFL Premiers Box Hill don't you understand???

Then you throw in Puopolo, Anderson, Whitecross, Durea, Suckling, Stratton, Ellis, Bruest Simpkin etc. etc. and there is some serious depth who have been injured or can't break in to that side.

15 AFL games this year in that side
5 games as a sub (hence why his disposal average has probably taken a hit) and the majority of the rest probably as a forward flanker

Can anyone remember if he was an integral part of the Hawks midfield setup when he had 30 disposals against us in round 20??

I would assume with those stats he was

Is he similar in standard to Hill perhaps?

Could be given they both like a goal and their stats are comparable as well

Savage is a massive step-up on Tommy Ledger.

Because they got a ruckman much better than their previous ruckman.

I have two friends with the same spelling of the surname.

One says Savage like a jungle savage, one says Savaaaarrrrge like the paralympian.

Anyone know the pronunciation for the new boy?

Worries me a little bit, trading in a player that blitzes against us, but nobody else.

Michael Frost did that… tore us apart once or twice… so we drafted him with a first rounder -

Is he still going out with Winnie Cooper?

In terms of demographics, he slots into this age group pretty well:

Steven: born Mar 90
Simpkin: born Aug 90
Dunell: born Sep 90
Stanley: born Dec 90
Lee: born Jan 91
Savage: born Jan 91
Hickey: born Mar 91
Roberton: born Jun 91

They look like the beginnings of a core group for 2016 onwards. And for games played, he slots in along with Roberton into the "Lyon Gap":

Steven: 73 games
Roberton: 57 games
Savage: 56 games
Maister: 40 games
Stanley: 39 games

Notice that the three players in the middle there have all been signed in the last twelve months. Without them we'd only have one player between 40 and 90 games!

Thought you were doing well there until you put Beau in the core group

I have watched a quite a few Hawks games with a mate and he goes okay against other teams too. He looks like a bigger body than most of our guys and has a heap of speed and goes in head first. I think we will end up with a fan favourite.

If I was Terry Milera, I'd be trying to make sure I was the guy already working out in the Gym when Pelchen gets in in the morning, and hoping that Trent Dennis Lane wasn't there before me.

A goal kicking mid, bingo! Welcome aboard SS.

Hawks let him go because he wanted to go...bit of a midfield log jam there, so he decided to 'do a Ledger'.

Question, ignoring this season where he was starved of opportunities, he was pretty much on fire for 2011 (Rising Star nomination against us, of course) and 2012. Was he injured towards the end of 2012, with a late pre-season? I'm wondering how he got behind Isaac Smith and Bradley Hill.

Heard he kicked 5 in the VFL prelim from the midfield and should've been called up to play ones but that was the week they brought Cyril and Buddy back so couldn't fit him in.

Also remember the final where he came on early as the sub due to WhiteX doing a knee last year and was BOG. I see a lot of Dustin Martin in the way he plays, not too sure why, maybe just a real solid kick and can slot a goal or three! So if we can get a Dusty without the off field rubbish I'm a happy man.

Good luck to him , here's hoping for 200 massive games for us!

From the highlights reel he looked a bit like a cross between Leigh Montagna and Jason Gram. Runs like Joey, kicks like Grammy.

They'd both need spotters just while changing the plates

Been looking at all the highlights I can get my hands on and I reckon we've got a gem here.

From what i've seen he has good pace, nice skills, reads the play well, puts his head over it, can play multiple positions, loves a goal and has a nice pair of hands.

Coupled with the fact that he's coming from the premier team, he is a Kiwi boy so PR for our games there is boosted and he genuinely seems to be a likable bloke.

I'm really happy the club has picked up Shane Savage.
