Saad - any news
Sorry if there is a post on here that I have missed.
I have been out of touch for a while but what is happening with Saad's probable suspension and how does it affect our list management and trades? (i.e. we don't even know whether he will be on our list next year.)

Re: Saad - any news
Thanks HTB. However, they really seem to be dragging out that hearing. So, what happens if the suspension isn't decided until after the AFL list lodgement dates?
I can see this going tits up with the club having a senior player on its list that they can't use. Maybe the AFL can make a special circumstances ruling and allow the upgrading of a rookie (something like the long term injury upgrading).
Dunno, just clutching at staws but I can see the club getting badly burned by this situation. Bugger.

There is some hope in the fact that a similar situation happened with Marin Cilic a Croatian tennis player who got given 9 months suspension and is currently appealing it at the court of arbitration in sport.

Saad set to learn his fate
THE DATE of Ahmed Saad's tribunal case is likely to be set within weeks with the St Kilda forward to learn of his penalty for taking a prohibited stimulant before the end of the year.

This whole thing is a disgrace.
How long should this take?
I know penalties get back dated, but there is list management issues at stake.
How long do you need to mount a case?
At this rate Saad will have the beat defense ever, countless surprise witnesses, 15 alibi's and the answer to several in solved murders.

Re: Saad - any news
Surely someone could have a crack at WADA for restraint of trade? (to get any penalty reduced)

Re: Saad - any news
We need to know before the Draft. If the penalty is 2 years then he needs to be replaced.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

why don't they do that with the AFL tribunal for striking offences?

Re: Saad? Make that Essendon news !!
Whatever Saad may be given and l think it will have to be a warning and an education PD essendon will by comparison be allowed to have a minor slap over the knuckles.
If Saad is given aything more than a warning essendon will have a truck-load of players stood down for significant periods. Wada will by its own draconian rulings have to deliver something really harsh or lose serious credibility for making up punishments as they go along.
Wada has enjoyed playing tough but it needs to deliver on the syringe happy club from windy hill or why would anyone take them seriously??
GO SAINTS!
