I know my Hawthorn supporting friends all rate Savage....they're happy to get McEvoy, but sad to lose Savage.

Best of luck. I hope you have a long and distinguished career for us.

A little off topic; what chance is there that Savage's recruitment will affect the type of player we aim for with pick 3 (presuming Boyd isn't available)?

I reckon they will just go for who they think is the best available for pick 3 regardless.

Of course 'best available' is a subjective judgement.

But it will almost certainly be one of Sharenberg, Aish, Kelly or Billings.

I understand what you are saying about best available, but presuming that a number of players are seen as relatively equal, can their prospective roles become a bit more important. For eg - I understand the Scharenberg is possibly more of a utility/defender than a midfielder, so I always guessed that might make him a less likely pick for us given our obvious need for mids. However in picking up a (potential?) mid in Savage mean that we could now be more inclined to go for Scharenberg and concentrate on other mids with later picks?

Just wondering out loud.

It has been constantly reiterated that we would be after elite midfield talent - most likely Kelly or Aish it seems

Prepared to consider it a coincidence.

Mind you, if they decide to replace Scott Watters with Wayne Schwass I'll start to get a bit suspicious

And if John Hopoate starts poking around Seaford, well, the disposable gloves will be on.

So can you call what type of player he will end up being for us or do you need a 2 or 3 years to pass before making that call.
