Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
Told ya.
Could totally see Ben to the hawks once buddy left.
Much more suited to 50/50 ruck with Hale than dominant Gardiner type.

Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
Sheer outrage by most saints fans.
Am I missing something? Personally think its the best trade the club has done for a long time.
Big boy was a slow loping non hit out winning dud this year

Now that's brilliant!southernsaint wrote:Could a swap of pick 8 and 17 be on the cards in a deal with north. North only need a 1st rounder for there father son?
Nee!
Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
It's astounding. I'd say the VAST majority of fans had become very very disenchanted with Ben's output, and his role with Hickey, and to the extent that he was holding Hickey back.
I don't care what the official commentators think, we made a very good trade here.

Good trade I reckon. I liked Big Boy, seems like a really nice and humble kind of bloke. Hope he does well at Hawthorn. He is Gary Dempsey without any centre square ability.
Savage and a first round pick is fine for us.

Pick 8 is locked in as WCE nominated MacDonald with their pick 6. North were forced to use that pick to secure father-son selection.fugazi wrote:Now that's brilliant!southernsaint wrote:Could a swap of pick 8 and 17 be on the cards in a deal with north. That is really clever - Dal and 17 for 8, Delaney and their 3 rounder.
win - win

This is why Saintsational is so great. Ahead of the curve gossip wise! Great tip!st.byron wrote:jaxons wrote:Get ready for this deal.
Shane Savage and Hawthorn's first pick for McEvoy.
Likely to be announced in next day or so.
How come no mention of this in any media rumour files? This is the only place I've seen this.

If St Kilda thought Macca would become Elite they wouldn't have traded him. They obviously had doubts about him. Hawthorn probably back themselves to get some more aggression and mongrel into him - they have a good track record of that.

Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
I believe Ben may have had an inclination during the year this was on the cards. Although no one likes to see players leave the club I wish him all the best at the Hawks. Mr Pelchen and team have made a very brave decision lets hope it works out in our favour !
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!

Well ATM we have secured #3 and #17 and #21 - not badWinnersOnly wrote:I believe Ben may have had an inclination during the year this was on the cards. We have picked up a useful mid who will be busting to prove himself.
Hawks pick up a ruckman who will work well in tandem with Hale.
Seems pretty good at the moment but we wont know for a couple of seasons.
Lance or James??

Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
My humble apologies to the great Jaxons…
I am in shock to be honest, considering we are so short on the 22 - 25 bracket… and Ben was a top ten pick…
I guess he hasn't come on this year like we had hoped… still plenty of time for him though.
Hickey is not ready to ruck a full season at this level yet IMO, pretty fragile.
Hopefully a Bontempelli type can slip to that pick…

See this article:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-10/hawks-nab-mcevoy
What does this bit mean?
There is a possibility further picks could be exchanged between the two clubs once Hawthorn's compensation for losing free agent Lance Franklin has been announced.

Re: McEvoy to Hawthorn
Looks like a good deal for us for a change. Savage will fill one of our key needs. it's disappointing to see Ben go. He was a good clubman and hopefully will do well for himself at the Hawks.
A big year ahead for Hickey! He will need some help to get through a full year. Perhaps another ruckman is on the radar.
