Re: Bill Davoren must go
Hope he goes and hangs out with Rocket Eade! Would be a blessing for us.
Collingwood's hunt for a new sports science director is understood to include St Kilda high performance manager Bill Davoren.
Davoren, who remains under contract, has been with the Saints for 12 months but is believed to be exploring a move to reunite with Magpies football manager Rodney Eade.
Before moving to St Kilda, Davoren spent four seasons with the Western Bulldogs, including 2009 when the club played in a preliminary final under Eade.
The move is yet to be finalised and Davoren would not comment when contacted by AFL.com.au.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
Yes 5 years and in that time he has sent both his clubs rapidly to the bottom! Dogs finished 3rd in 08 before old Bill arrived and put them on on hist track to spoon training program.karnaby wrote:Or, according to that article, maybe we do have to worry if he goes?Doctor Two wrote:according to this we may not have to worry
Collingwood are after him

Five years in afl systems, apparently sought after by one of the "big" clubs. Maybe he actually does have something to offer? In all honesty I wouldn't hope to know but I fully expect the club does and I'm perfectly happy to trust their judgement.
Please god let him go to Collingwood and turn them into a team of outside running female triathletes who cant play footy or compete.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
I have assumed that this guy will go to Collingwood given his past working relationships.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

So lets work this out. This fitness guy seems to want to go the pies and they seem to want him but Con reckons he is no good even though he has never seen this guy at all. The pies are the richest sporting club in Australia and could get anyone they want and they want out guy but Con knows more even though he lives in the Maldives. Im backing Con on this one.

All that has been seen said is he might go to the pies because he is mates with rodney eade.plugger66 wrote:So lets work this out. they worked together at a side that began its decline to sub mediocrity when davoren arrived and turned them into weaklings.
he did a good job of it our club in one year.
so yes i hope eade gets his man.
wish i did live in the maldives on a yacht.

I think this whole thread is pretty much completely baseless. Pure conjecture.
The Bullies would've slid down the ladder post 2010 regardless of who was the head fitness guru. We wouldn't have physically competed so well this year given the heavier reliance on younger bodies regardless of who was the head fitness guru.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
So now apparently the fitness guy doesnt matter but this guy must be good because he is mates with Rodney Eade and Rodney Eade works at Collingwood.
Lets face facts. His record is not good. Teams go rapidly backwards under him and now apparently its just a coincidence.
Tell me why female triathlon training is appropriate for footy ?
body shapes and contested ball both pathetic at Saints 13 and Dogs 11.
why did the dogs let him go ?
why did the dogs improve a lot after he left ?
why were the saints the third softest side in the afl in 2013?
the guy is a dud at footy.
send him back to female triathlon or keep him and watch us win the spoon.

Lost all logic Con. The Saints would have detailed records of how the players are progressing. They will sack him if they dont think he is good enough or keep him if they do. You have no records at all. Isnt Missen at melbourne Con? They are terrible and he was with us when we played in a GF. Whats the story with that. Sides may just not be good enough no matter who is the fitness guru. Did Jack go backwards under him. Fitest he has ever been id say.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
Just a thought but maybe he was at the Bulldogs and Saints when they were beginning to slide down the ladder due to natural decline.
Where we finish has nothing to do with the fitness guy unless we were not physically prepared to play, ie not able to run out games.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
well the club made a big deal of rhys bench pressing 130 kg last summer and said he was the strongest at the club. so yeah id say we were the second weakest side in the afl and id love to see where we compare.
and dont get smug about melbourne because if we keep this guy we will certainly win the flag.
if we get someone else we may not.
how do you explain gilbo and lee improving rapidly when they had leg injuries and had to go off Bills program ?

Rhys benching 130 and being the strongest guy at the club is pathetic. Pretty sure Curren curls that!Con Gorozidis wrote:well the club made a big deal of rhys bench pressing 130 kg last summer and said he was the strongest at the club. so yeah id say we were the second weakest side in the afl and id love to see where we compare.

Re: Bill Davoren must go
By the way, after some investigation, I can confirm that Jason Holmes benches about 105kg at a few reps.
Re: Bill Davoren must go
Really? He should be benching far more than that.FQF wrote:By the way, after some investigation, I can confirm that Jason Holmes benches about 105kg at a few reps.

so curren rhys and probably sean are the three strongest.HitTheBoundary wrote:What Sean Dempster has to say.

is two weights per week enough ?
lee and gilbo seemed to benefit from doing extra weights when they couldnt run and it is a known fact that tom curren does extra weights sessions so probably does four per week.
and look how he plays.

Collingwood's hunt for a new sports science director is continuing and there are suggestions the Pies have poached St Kilda's high performance manager Bill Davoren.
Davoren, who remains under contract, has been with the Saints for 12 months but is believed to be exploring a move to be reunited with Magpies football manager Rodney Eade.
Before moving to St Kilda, Davoren spent four seasons with the Western Bulldogs, including 2009 when the club played in a preliminary final under Eade
