No deal.
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
Funny how both sides want more…
North fans are spewing at the thought of losing pick 26 for a washed up 30 year old.
And Delaney is apparently in very high demand from Brisbane & Carlton.
Let's keep Dal… North don't have any better picks and won't be giving up any decent young players.

By all reports an extremely shallow draft. No one seems to rate pick 40 onwards. Hopefully we can grab a few more before then.

Then again if Dal gets picked up as an uncontracted player we should get a compensation pick. As he would be the highest awarded player (2 top 3 finishes in brownlow) to move this year I imagine our compensation would be better than pick 26.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
If we take the offer , then pick 26 can be sent to GWS for Bruce.
So on effect we lose Dal but gain Delaney & Bruce. It would seem a fairly reasonable trade considering Dal would be 30 when next season starts.
If however you can trade for Bruce with maybe our 3rd round ( pick 39 thereabouts) , you could possibly get Delaney in the pre season draft and keep Dal as well to teach the young ones ( much preferred).
This is where Pelchen needs to earn his money by trading well.

Keep him. The deal offered is not extraordinary. Unproven key backs come cheaper than this.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
If Bruce is as highly rated as I'm hearing, I'm not sure GWS would be interested at that price, unless they land Shaw and are desperate for cap space...what's the point? As a FA he (EDIT: Dal) is probably worth a pick ~mid-20's, so still can't see much value in it. I agree with those posting on here, I get the impression Delany may be a PSD prospect.robbie muir wrote:If we take the offer , then pick 26 can be sent to GWS for Bruce.

Agree, if there is a formula, then we should be able to apply it.Munga wrote:Surely we can ask the AFL what pick we'd get (+/-2) if he goes FA??

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
Thing is North know that they do not have to offer more, as they know that if we go the FA way we gain a lower pick, and North would love that as it then costs them nothing.
Our biggest problem is that North is the only suitor for Dal...and that means that we have virtually no bargaining power.
Perhaps we could sweeten the deal by exchanging our 4th round for their third round. But again our bargaining power is not strong unless North are "desperate" to land Dal.
It would look that our main hope to actually geta "cream" player is if we can swing a good deal with Fisher.
Fisher + 26 for Budd & Bruce.
So lose Dal and Fisher, but gain Budd, Bruce and Delaney. Maybe with a 4th rounder thrown in from GWS as they would not use it anyway.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
I'd take it.
Isn't our strategy to develop a playing list for say 2016?
Dal won't be there and neither will Fisher.
If we can get Delaney and Bruce and also have 4 picks under 40 then that's about the best we can hope for.
We lose Dal and Fisher which is sad but heh this is AFL 2013.
To do any better then we have to offer better players. Nobody wants Gwilt, Gilbert, Ray etc.
And I don't want to lose McEvoy, Armitage etc. who could/should be there in 2016.

Re: North offer Pick 26 & Luke for Dal
After listening to the bullish*t spewed by Scott at their best and fairest dinner where he made numerous references to Dal and the quality of player he is and how pleased he is that he wants to come to North, I believe it should be a pick under 20. You cannot carry on about how wonderful he is and then pull out the old 'he is almost 30 line, so we will give you pick 26'.
Keep Dal. Don't want to see him go and certainly not to North or for a nothing pick.

Your all delirious, the fact we didn't say deal within seconds worries me.
