Terrible newspaper article in Sydney
Did anyone in Melbourne see this?
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/s ... 6733158067
I saw it in the Sydney Daily Telegraph and thought it was extremely poor journalism. Where are our rivers of gold and blockbuster games?

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Rebbeca Versus Caroline
News Ltd Versus Fairfax
Sydney Versus Melbourne
Equals puff piece.
Pretty much all of the sentiment and opinion in that piece could have been read online just hours after the Buddy deal was announced.
Personally I don't pay money for subscriptions to the rags produced by either of those companies, why would you?

Emerald City.... Sydney???? As the famous quote goes "everyone gets delusions of grandeur! Anyway Good luck to Sydney getting Buddy he was a great player for the Hawks. Cleaver as they know their salary cap extras are on borrowed time. Seeing other Cities are questioning the cost of living issues and level playing fields. Yes and I was excited to see we have some block buster games now.... which ones are those again?
Re: Terrible newspaper article in Sydney

Hey, if it's so expensive to live in Sydney, don't live there. As I said before, raise everyone's cap to match Sydney's, then it's a level playing field.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Savvy?
If I walk up to the Hotdog stand , and there is one left, and some dick offers the Vendor fifty bucks , and I choose to spend a few bucks on chips instead and keep the fifty bucks in my pocket, does that make me not Savvy?

Its the middle earners at Sydney who suffer.dragit wrote:I'm happy for any Sydney player earning less than $100,000 to receive a cost of living bonus.
The ones on minimum probably get their 20K on top, but the ones on 200 -300 would be on what they are on and its neither here nor there.

Wilson has a regular gig SEN on the Run Home Show.
She is ALWAYS respectful and does not call Melbourne bleak city.
BTW the term bleak city was used by a former Melbournian who wrote for the Telegraph late last century.
Time to grow some lady balls. (whatever they are)
Next time you speak to the Ox and the golfer from Mumbai on the radio, tell them and the listener what you are really thinking, Rebecca.
Otherwise you may be labelled two faced.

Yeah my heart bleeds for an average footballer earning only 200-300 thousand dollars… Must be so hard to find affordable food & clothing for those poor buggers.Kickit wrote:Its the middle earners at Sydney who suffer.dragit wrote:I'm happy for any Sydney player earning less than $100,000 to receive a cost of living bonus.

Re: Terrible newspaper article in Sydney
The COL is total crap.
a) its assigned as a percentage. It costs a fixed amount to live in Sydney. Other factors such as real estate are an investment choice.
b) if we are going to do COL adjustment it has to include all locations, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, West Sydney, Melbourne and Geelong. Each would have to be regularly evaluated and adjusted.
c) Sydney give it to a few rookies, and the allocation for the rest of the team goes towards securing top end talent.

Sick to death of sexist buffoons making off colour comments about female journalists on this Forum. Glad to see a few posts on this thread have been reported. Maybe some suspensions might shut a few up
Go back to 1975 if you want to carry on like that

Agreed, attacked the quality of the article, not the sex of the journo.
In saying that, it is a cheap, willfully ignorant piece of poppy c**k from Wilson.

So if the reporter had been a male and the derisive comment was that he just badly needed to get laid - would that still be sexist?
I don't think it's sexist as much as it's just generally in poor taste, and attacking the reporter rather than the poor quality of the article.
