Just as an aside, I am a little concerned about the casual racism towards our new recruit.

Yes he is a Black American who played basketball.

That doesn't mean he is a gangster rapper

There have been suggestions that Sam Fisher is acting beneath his age and needs to grow up.
I suggested that now that Holmes was coming Fisher might want to "put his hat on backwards and hang around the hood".
It was an attempt at humour more at Fisher's expense and the way he's been reported to have been acting rather than any preconceptions about Holmes.

The "big dick" is reference to "John Holmes" so its a joke about his name not his race. ( Similar to TOm Lee who shares a name with a Motley Crue bass player and may possibly be on the internet somewhere with Pamela Anderson ).

I hate having to explain jokes it ruins them. But keep digging I'm sure you'll find something.

Would be a great thing. I think his biggest challenge will be just general positioning and how to not get burnt by your opponent. Starting out as a servicable ruck could have him playing pretty quick assuming his body is AFL fit.
