Re: Sen predicting mass exodus
How can we bring SEN to account if it gets it so wrong? It may turn out to be the case but it sounds like more beat-up scare-mongering to me, in an effort to generate attention for the station.
Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

There's no holding them to account I wouldn't think. Only to not listen and to call or write and let Finey or whoever know how you feel.ctqs wrote:How can we bring SEN to account if it gets it so wrong? Re: Sen predicting mass exodus
It worked. Ball became motivated, played in a winning GF.st.byron wrote:Yep. He couldn't meet Lyon's benchmark for mid-field running. Lyon had zero flexibility over it and consequently marginalised Ball to 'motivate' him.Con Gorozidis wrote: But clearly Ball left because of Lyon and not Riewoldt.
This is beyond question and should be put to bed once and for all.

Yeah and the huge pile of cash from Collingwood and Channel Nine had no bearing in his motivation at all.Kickit wrote:It worked. Ball became motivated, played in a winning GF.st.byron wrote:Yep. are you denying he was asked to take a pay cut??...because he was.....the two stories aren't incompatablest.byron wrote:Ball left because Lyon demanded something of him he couldn't do. Lyon then dropped him and reduced his game time, including the '09 GF rubbish.stinger wrote: .said that you can blame roo for ball leaving.....said the saints wanted him to take a pay cut so that they could pay roo more.......also that ball and roo haven't spoken to each other since ball left......so there may be more than a tad of truth in what you are saying.....
Ball left for someone who would appreciate his talents and let him do what he does best.
Not from the horse's mouth, but from a horse as close to Ball as you can get without being him.

Mike Sheehan (so take it it leave it) in an article slamming us for our handling of it, suggested that Collingwood's offer was LESS than ours.stinger wrote:are you denying he was asked to take a pay cut??...because he was.....the two stories aren't incompatablest.byron wrote:Ball left because Lyon demanded something of him he couldn't do. Odd, he was so upset at being asked to take a pay cut, that he accepted even less, somewhere else.
Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends.

Someone just overheard wrong.
Andrew Thompson said he was catching up with some former players.
When asked who, he said
Max, X and Aus

Re: Sen predicting mass exodus
IIRC from the media reports and posts on here at the time, Ball was in the final year of a 'back-ended contract' which paid him 600K in that year.stinger wrote:well my source was from inside the cfc...maybe they are lying...who knows....st.byron wrote:stinger wrote:are you denying he was asked to take a pay cut??...because he was.....the two stories aren't incompatable

Saints offered him 1 million over the next 3 years.
Paul Connors, his manager asked for 500k per season in a newspaper article.
Collingwood offered him 500k per season for 2 years with a third year to be negotiated later.
Ball asked for a trade to Collingwood.
No Trade was done after the 2 clubs could not agree and after Collingwood unsuccessfully tried to get an acceptable draft pick from NM..
Ball nominated for the draft with a salary of 500k per season.
Connors/Ball 'engineered' that he fell to Pick 30, Collingwood's first pick in the draft after they gave away pick 16 to Sydney for Jolly (the pick they had apparently offered during initial discussions with the Saints before Connors' other client Jolly became available).
Ball became a Collingwood player - a great guy with high morals and ethics
Saints generally, and Lyon specifically, became 'bad guys' bereft of any acumen, ability, morals and ethics.
Ball played a shocking GF1 in 2010 and a reasonable GF2.
Ball is now a Collingwood Premiership player, still apparently a good guy with high morals and ethics, despite actively participating in a technically legal tampering of the draft.

Re: Sen predicting mass exodus
So he was offered less than Lovett?
add that to the way he was used in 09 GF
I for one can't blame him at all!

Dont forget Lyon had been publicly humiliating Ball in the media throughout the entire season. He had been saying how he had flaws in his game and needed to work on them.whiskers3614 wrote:So he was offered less than Lovett?

I have no problem with him wanting to improve Ball - but do it in private. He was publicly talking him down all year.
Didnt he drop him once and he played VFL? Meanwhile Eddy was playing every week alongside Mini....

Yeah if I was Ball I would not have been thrilled to be publicly shot despite soft non-tackling squib retards like Mini, Raph and Eddy were getting games.Con Gorozidis wrote:Dont forget Lyon had been publicly humiliating Ball in the media throughout the entire season. I remember one of the first games I saw mini play (NAB Cup game) he brought down a ruckman in a front on tackle, what a dirty squib!
Re: Sen predicting mass exodus
None of those player were squibs, yes.... No doubt
Also, none are now in the AFL!! Ball is in the Leadership group of a top 6 team
