Re: fevola - money's gone...
He turned up to my kids under 9s team training and is a great big kid who loves being around other kids. He was in a beat up old Rav 4 and looked a bit down on his luck. The coach knows him and he did it free and was great for the teams to talk about his experiences. Sad to see a guy who had all the talent in the world but really lost his way. Carlton were happy to allow him to go off the rails as long as he was performing.

He may well be a clown, but stories such as this bring me no joy.
Hope he can eventually sort himself out.

Re: fevola - money's gone...
Carlton didn't do enough to help him. Poor culture at that club for a long long time which allowed a bloke to act like he did off the field, and they basically turned a blind eye because of his on-field performance. Something that the Saints were possibly guilty of a long time ago, but we are only talking 6-7 years ago in the case of Fevola and the Blues.
Should have been the great forward of his era. If he had played at the Saints or Swans from '03 onwards, IMO he would have kicked 800+ goals.

Its really sad that someone who was so good at AFL footy will now go through the rest of his life scraping for a living.

Re: fevola - money's gone...
Fev's bankrupt cos the wife's got all the money !
He obviously doesn't pay his bills so people have sued him to get some payment from his players pension .
I wonder how much of the money he makes playing for all those country sides is declared to the tax man !

Exactly. Like David Schwarz, Fevola has no access to cash to prevent gambling. Alex has the money!!mr six o'clock wrote:Fev's bankrupt cos the wife's got all the money !

The whole Sam Fisher thing is getting done way over the top.SENsaintsational wrote:*cough cough* Sam Fisher *cough cough*Legendary wrote:Carlton didn't do enough to help him. There is a lot more now being assumed about him than has ever been reported or even rumoured about him.

Re: fevola - money's gone...
Biggest waste of talent I've seen in my time watching the game.
He still did achieve some pretty rare moments on the field.
I'll continue the "what if's" and say that had he played in the 80s/90s, he'd probably be the all time leading goal-kicker.
Seriously... ... he was born to kick goals (and not much else).
His biggest problem was that he loved Carlton.

Shame the AFL players association weren't as developed as they are now when he was a kid. Could've used the financial David and resources. They saying, I can't help but feel no one could've helped Fev.

He doesn't know me Cairns? Not sure the point of your comment? You don't either, don't forget?
