Re: We have lost our identity
I've got a better plan- get Banksy the street artist to stencil rats in Saints jumpers in lane ways , get some pretentious ads done in black and white with some surrealist message and jump on the inner urban hipsters. The 90s had all the musos and arty types following us we should go for it again. We are an alternative team not mainstream.

Sure, and Tom Curren is a local too I think.SainterK wrote: Be active participants in all peninsula annual events and celebrations
Dylan Roberton should become a frankston poster boy, good looking young guy who grew up there.
None of this would be costly or difficult.
I don't think it will be too long before players that have an issue with Seaford are gone, and are replaced with players who are sold the idea and embrace it.
*Allegedly.

Re: We have lost our identity
We've got to get some presence back at Moorabbin. It's in the absolute heart of the bayside suburbs, half way between St Kilda and Frankston. We just need to own that space forever.
Seaford should be kept as the elite training centre. Admin, public relations, membership etc should all go back to Linton Street. If we've outgrown Seaford, there's the answer.
We should build a small stand there and enough training facilities to run a VFL team and conduct open training sessions. It effect we could have two training spaces. That would ease some of the player concerns about travel.
We should also build some sort of community hub there. That's why Waverley works for Hawthorn. I don't know what exactly but it should represent the spirit of the club and the community coming together. A gym? A crèche? I'm not sure.
I don't care how much it costs - the bigger issue is how much will it cost if we don't get back there? Maybe everything.

Hawthotn has embraced their fans.Majority wrote:I can understand where the OP is coming from.
But what about the current Premiers, others ask?
They played games at Glenferrie Oval from 1903 to 1973 & trained there until 2006.
I went there on at least two occasions to watch us play the Hawks.
It was a small muddy ground and the atmosphere was fantastic.
I miss the suburban grounds.
Hawthorn went back to Glenferrie Oval on Sunday to celebrate with fans.
They also went to Tasmania.
And if they have not already been back to Waverley, they will.
I have not heard, or read any statements about the HFC losing their identity.
When a club is near the bottom of the ladder, some fans look at things in a different light.
When you barrack for the ST.KFC you ride on the winding rocky road, not the 5 lane Highway.
The Saints under Westaway ostracised ours.
I cannot fathom why anyone thinks GW was good for our club.
He has destroyed the club.

Re: We have lost our identity
So by on here the club has done no 'embracing' to the bayside since moving to Seaford?
Is this a case of what you don't personally see; doesn't exist?
Haven't there been appearances, junior clinics, school visits? I think there has been.

Re: We have lost our identity
I like the idea of keeping the Seaford Linen house thing for VFL. It would encourage elite performances by our up and coming players who would all want to play seniors to get a better coffee.
Re: We have lost our identity
Never drink the coffee from the coffee booth/caravan thing near the pub in Frankston. In fact I don't know if there is any good coffee in Frankston. Do they have a Mc Café?SainterK wrote:Nosatchmo wrote:Is that a problem for a CEO?SainterK wrote: No offence, but nettles was a yuppy IMO...sorry

How can you say he has destroyed the club. That's a very strong accusation which is way off the mark because my definition of destroy means we are dead, gone, doesn't exist anymore.saintsRrising wrote:Hawthotn has embraced their fans.Majority wrote:I can understand where the OP is coming from.

Out of curiosity what exactly do you mean by destroy. What evidence is there that he has been bad for the club.

Seems right on cue too with Saints out in the Mornington Peninsula today.
I don't take much notice because I not from there. Could be they are doing heaps.

What next "The sky is falling, the sky is falling."
I am not a great fan of what GW did as I felt he did not attack the market as well as he could have.
But the club has not been destroyed not even close.
We need a president who has a long term plan for growing the club.
Westaway was reactive we need a proactive leader who will aggressively market our club.
Frankston and the peninsula should be the cornerstone of our marketing push.
It is a growing area with no strong ties to any specific club.
Make Frankston Black Red and White.
We should be working with Frankston council to expand our presence in the area.
Open discussion between the AFL, the Frankston Council and us about a 25K seater stadium in Frankston with us as the primary tenant.
Geelong get the Bellerine peninsula we get the Mornington Peninsula all other clubs in the city.
We are not a big enough club to fight Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon etc... toe to toe, so we need to find a differentiating factor.
Why not make Frankston that factor?
Re: We have lost our identity
People need to stop with the stadium idea. The AFL wouldnt want another stadium and no council is going to put in 75 million to build it and the last place you would be something that big even if you got the money is a place 40k out of the city. It will never happen.SinCitySainter wrote:What a load of over blown clap trap. "He has destroyed the club."saintsRrising wrote:
