Question about our Cap?

Post: # 1396763Post BigMart »

Every club has to pay 95% of the Cap?!

Nick Riewoldt is a Vet and has taken a pay cut regardless, Hayes signed a 1 year reduced deal.... No Milne, Kosi, Blake, Goddard, Gram..... Possibly Dal, Fosher and Joey?

WHO THE HELL IS GETTING OVERPAID????!!!!

On huge money
Adelaide.... Dangerfield, Walker
Brisbane ..... Luenberger, Rich, Rockliff
Carlton....... Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Kruzer, Walker, Waite
Collingwood..... Cloke, Pendlebury, Swan, Reid
Essendon....... Hurley, Watson, Goddard, Ryder
Freo....... Fyfe, Barlow, Mundy, McPharlin, Pavlich,
Geelong...... Hawkins, Selwood, Bartel, Taylor,
Hawthorn......

Well you get the picture

Who is getting paid?!

You don't have to use the veteran allowance, so they might be using vets wages to fill the 95%. That's better than overpaying and screwing around with the balance.

If you wait a 5 or so years you should sound like you know what you are talking about.

It's a legitimate question in my opinion.

We mat have paid 105% this year so it is apretty big drop to 95%. We also would have paid a promotion allowance this year that may be put into the salary cap to get it to 95% next year. They could also pay money in advance to players. There are plenty of ways of getting it to 95%.

Most people don't realise that Aaron Hamill actually had a 7 year extension clause after his contract expired.

All I can say is that I hope it is being managed exceptionally well, so that when the time comes, we can land 1 or even 2 big name stars to propel us into contention.

No point doing that now though, so in the meantime, lets front load contracts, and do whatever else is necessary to have us primed when it matters.

Only 100k per player on the vets list is covered now.

From what is reported, Roo is on 500k and Dal 600k. Fisher and Joey would be on similar coin. Gilbert recently signed a longterm contact. He'd be on around 400k, I reckon. We likely overpaid for Hickey to get him to the club last year. He'd be on decent coin as well.

Don't believe you addressed the question Cairnsman?

Something different?

Can anyone explain how our TPP scale could look anything like say Carlton

Lets say Judd = Riewoldt

Who is getting equivalently paid to...
Murphy
Gibbs
Kruzer
Walker
Waite
Henderson
Carrazzo
Simpson
Betts
Jamison
Gartlett
Touhey
Yarran

And then

DAISY THOMAS???!!!

I thought the same about the Bulldogs this year, but at least they have Griffen, Cooney and Boyd

Knowing our luck, we will get penalised for paying below the 95% of the cap and get stripped of pick 3 this year.

All jokes aside, if Dal, Joey and Fish were traded (due to the draft picks in return being so exceptional) we need to spread out over 1.5 mil across 7-8 new draft picks. Jesus

Our cap was up the shitter prior to Pelchen coming to the club. You may find we are still back paying contracts. Dal may have been on 400k when he re-signed a few years back and now he's on 600k. Same with Joey and a few others. We are likely paying well above market price because of this.

We will include part of Dal's and Joey's contracts in our cap next year as part of the deal.

Think you need to ask both Carlton and saints list manager. By the way there could be a million different in payments. Does that make you feel better. I dont understand what your point is anyway. care to tell us.

Yes wouldn't surprise me if the deal was right and will logically free up space in 12 months time which will allow us to re-contract all our young guns with a moderate salary increase. Not the worst outcome by a long way.

So we will be paying for a part of Nths premiership shot.... That's nice of us?

Didn't realise we were so keen to offload a triple all Australian for an untried kid that we would pay some of his salary....

Good management again.... Like Freo and Collingwood, Sydney and even Richmond back in the early seventies, we are so nice to other clubs......

And this will benefit us how?

Perhaps another Tom Hickey???

All our young guns?

Do we have the same issue as GC, GWS Melbourne and Port??

Which of our young guns will be elite at this stage?

It may come down to us getting a free agent and paying overs for his first year. Eg IF we wanted Thomas, $800k for the first year and scale it down for the next 2. What ever the price may be. Which would free some cap space for the following year (another free agent?).

You love hanging it on the club. Good to see how you have given Hickey a chance too. I actually thought he improved during the year but then again with 6 weeks to go in the season you told us all Jack Steven was a fair player and had a go at anyone who claimed he may eventually beome elite. I know who is closer to being right now. By the way did Hardwick recruit Cousins?

I thought I was on ignore but you still cant ignore me. Its very funny. By the way the club is trekking fair at best but unlike you i dont continue to bring up issues 4 or 5 years ago so that I can tell everyone on here I was right. That is nearly as funny as you trying to ignore me. Lets look at our club and not mention other clubs. it doesnt help the situation at all unless you just want to show us how bad a club we are. How did Hardwick go about recruiting Cousins?

Well it depends. You have me on ignore and wont ignore me. I dont have you on ignore and have never suggested I would ignore you. The way I see it is that you are Snapper and I am Rex Hunt.

So is this thread about our cap or one forum member attempting to bait another one?

because if it is the latter it is directly against the forum rules.

I suggest you take your "live one" comments and baiting to the General Forum if thats what you want to do.

This is a football forum and not an ego trip forum.
