It is actually bizarre in retrospect that Dawson gets bashed by all despite doing a good job in finals yet Raph Clarke played one half of good football against the Dogs in 09 and that makes me a racist.

Dawson is getting a rough'ish deal here due to the jilted supporter syndrome.
Not that I'm criticising, I have the same deal with Ross Lyon.

He's far from a spud though he did have his pants pulled down yesterdy.

He did play very well for us in the big ones in 09/10 but I guess it's becoming clear that he needs a good team around him to support him. Lyon's structure style suits him very well... makes me wonder if players like Raph, Fisher, Gilbert, Blake etc made him look a lot better than he really was with us

I would say so, when you have Fisher, Gilbert, Ray etc filling the hole in front of your matchup key forward they probably wont see much of it.

He was helped by playing in a good side, but his form was hard to fault in 2009 in particular. If he wasn't doing well Lyon wouldn't have been forced to keep Max out of the team.

Yep exactly.
He was still a rookie, fighting for survival with Max breathing down his neck in 09.
He played a fantastic year- good enough to keep Max out, who was also playing very well in the two's.

Hasn't been anywhere near as good before or since 09.

As for Roughead being quiet the other day, Johnson was all over him all day- he had a ripper.
Just the sort of player we need Stanley to become.
