Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
My quick view-
We have a President that speaks well.
He said there is a club wide review going on, but no crisis.
Said he wouldn't be interfering (or commenting) on football operations matters.
Said one of our biggest problems is communication, and that the club needs to have a strong message/view that we sell to members and the public. Said this needs to be created, owned, and communicated, and said the club needs to get on the front foot.
Overall quite impressive.

Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
Wow. He spoke extremely well. Think we've got a good one here. Seems very switched on but calm and considered.
-- Said his thing in his job as CEO (AV Jennings) was to communicate and that came across in the interview - honest and informative.
-- Loved his comment about needing to develop a stronger vision for the club and then own that. That's what we need - what does this club stand for?
-- Asked about Watters contract extension - said we are doing a pretty big review considering the spotlight that has been on us with off-field indiscretions.
-- Asked about Watters relationship with older team players - said he wouldn't get involved in list has faith in Watters and Pelchen.
-- Said surprise to no one about finances and Etihad deal is one of the key things that has to be looked at but they are not going to get obsessed with outside factors.
-- Focusing on a big membership push right at the moment.
Seems a guy with a plan. He is an accountant by trade and came across methodical and calculated. And had a bit of humour - said he liked to play to his strengths - being boring. And apologised in advance for using the "process" word

Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
Also said that Nettlefold is leaving - but was not pushed. He will stay on as long as required, which would not be the case if he got the flick.
Said getting our membership drive right was very important as was sponsorship, and that we needed to rely on generating our own funds rather than be dependent on any AFL equalisation fund.
Robbo said that the Herald Sun had been investigating rumours of Saints financial problems, but had backed off as it wasn't as bad as the rumours made out.

Thanks for that info Folks! I'm just about ready to smash the doors down at seaford to renew my membership for 2014! GO SAINTS! (and to hell with the rest!)
St Kilda forever ( God help me)
Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
All sounds really positive. Strong President is so important for a club in our position. Not only can they provide leadership they can act as a lightning rod for criticisms of the club.
Impressed to hear him say that Saints need to fix their own problems re finances. To much complaining in recent years for my liking. E.g. etihad stadium deal.

Sounds like exactly what we need.
Our club does needs a vision.

Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
There are rumors getting around that we are in horrid state internally. Senior players are unhappy with the coach,
Dal, Joey, armo, Gilbert, roo, and fish were named as wanting out in the last 24 hours with all assistant coaches.
James fantasia I think is the guy who was being interviewed for a position at the club and has declined due to events taking place in the last week.

Good clubs hang tough in these moments ... a good old fashioned Saints implosion so the media and other sides can laugh at us again is so old St Kilda predictable... IF that occurs the respect built in the last 10 years evaporates.

They also raised the point that we lost Ross and his team was in the Grand Final. But I think it was Robert Walls that pointed out that if Lyon had've stayed he would've now been at the Saints 7 years with no flag - and it would be time for him to move on anyway.

Yeah hate to agree here but this is so much like the old StKilda. Based on comments above about the new president I don't see this happening. Key points for me from above is the need to:
1 Develop a strategy - Review past last 5 year performance, Corporate and Footy Club Vision and Values, External and Internal SWOT/PEST
2 Review of the last 5 years tactics developed and budget consideration - marketing, capital, revenue, resources etc.
3 Action immediately undertaken to address the revenue leading into 2014.
4 The next thing is the communication of key direction from the above to members. Reading the above points suggests the new Pres appears big on this aspect.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
Robert Walls is dead right here. He did not really fit the clubs need after 2011 given his personal need for $$$$ and impatience for team performance.HitTheBoundary wrote:They also raised the point that we lost Ross and his team was in the Grand Final. We now need to rely on the good from Peltchen's and Scott Watter's team development. There is no silver bullet here, just strategic nouse and hard work across the footy department to enable reasonable improvement in game performance to ensure revenue gradually increases through memberships and sponsorship.

I hope this is all crap because as senior players they should have more sense. Those same stars cost us any chance of a Premiership due to their greediness. I would piss them all off if they can't play for the betterment of the club. Petulant children who have been over paid too long.
Re: Peter Summers on SEN - new Pres.
If true then it is a very serious state of affairs. The captain and 4 of the leadership group unhappy, along with two other players and ALL the assistant coaches? That is ballistic stuff.Teflon wrote:IF true - you have to laughkos wrote:There are rumors getting around that we are in horrid state internally. Senior players are unhappy with the coach,

I really don't know if Watters is the right man or not, but I don't want the club to go the way of Melbourne. If he's the wrong bloke, give him the chop now. And IF this number of senior players are cheesed off then questions clearly need to be asked. Hopefully Pelchen, Nettlefold and the new pres will get it sorted out over the next few weeks.
This trade/free agency month is shaping up to be our most important probably since 2000.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
