Re: Ledger delisted
Think Saad will be probably delisted depending on penalty likely to be rookie listed.
Have gut feeling there will some experience traded as listening to Liam Pickering he says very shallow draft this year
Only real surprise is Clinton Jones thought he was gone

Re: Ledger delisted
Lever was a long term prospect - why spend time on him then let him go at the time when all the work developing might start to pay off ???
He will only just about grown into himself by the start of the 2014 season - this is a poor decision from my point of view - admittedly I have not seen him play live

Staley surprise me, big boy and it was clicking for him.
Not everyone meshes at a club for a variety of reasons.
Look, nobody likes delistings. There has been angst in the past, & will be angst in the future. Lets concentrate on those who've made it
Webster, Curren, Wright, Newnes, Ross....we've got some great kids building.
Wish the others all the best.

Re: Ledger delisted
Disappointing for Ledger, however we need to churn through and get the best list. mistakes ( In hindsight) will be made, but decisions need to be made. I am sure the usual hindsight kings will tell us all about in a year or two.
I am still waiting for this years draft smokie whom the armchair critics can flay the club about. Interestingly enough although I have asked a number of times I have received no reply.
Who would have thought?

Lance or James??

Re: Ledger delisted
I saw more of a valuable contribution from Ledger in the future than Clint Jones.

Re: Ledger delisted
I hope there is room on the Rookie list for Jay Lever. Reportedly still building bulk on his 200cm frame. Skills OK. That size defender doesn't come along every day.

Re: Ledger delisted
I wanted us to keep Ledger until I went to the grand final parade and saw the Freemantle midfielders walk past me.
The only short players that will make it nowadays have to be quick and extremely skillfull.
Thanks and bye Ledger

Re: Ledger delisted
Promising jnr player, early form good
spends nearly the entire season burning it up in the VFL
at 21 (i think), more or less becomes Sandy's best midfielder
gets two games late in the season and plays to a good standard
gets delisted
I don't know how anyone can look at this and view it as a positive

Re: Ledger delisted
I like to revisit draft reports from newspapers on these occasions:
2011
60 JAY LEVER
(Geelong Falcons, 18, 198cm, 83kg)
Played in the ruck for Vic Country and the Falcons, and won his share of hitouts. Importantly, also looked natural when he went forward. Knew how to position himself, then complete the mark.
2010
59. TOM LEDGER
(Claremont, 18, 178cm, 73kg)
Quick, elusive midfielder.
Hmmm The Age didn't elaborate much on Ledger!

Exactly. Game these days is mids that are 188cm+ or really skilful or really fast. Ledger none of these. My GUESS is that there is a lazy streak there as well.

Well done. You have just done exactly what you've accused other forumites of doing. Good stuff. Hope Tom finds a happier home. One with no forums.skeptic wrote:chook23 wrote:plugger66 wrote:Seemed very obvious to me.

Re: Ledger delisted
Only room for 40 players on the list and we can't keep everyone.
Ledger was probably too small.
If some people on here had their way, players like Will Johnson and Paul Cahill would still be running around.

Re: Ledger delisted
all I'm saying SaintPav is I'd liked to say for certain that the players we sack are done/finished not up to it etc
Ledger IMO is better than at least 3 other retained players on the list, and has more upside

Re: Ledger delisted
I watched him play half a dozen games at sandy and he did turn it over far too much however I would prefer a 22 yr old who does this instead of a 30 yr old !skeptic wrote:Would rather have Ledge instead of Jones, Ray, TDL, etc
may as well persevere with the mediocre players in hope that we get another 3 good games out of them.
I think he will get picked up by another side .
maybe not freo .

Re: Ledger delisted
No. He won't be picked up. He's well known for his inability to run out a game and his inability to compete. He's the last player Freo would want.dragit wrote:He'll get to freo for free now and we'll have to fight it out for michie... Awesome stuff.
