Good. I'll do it for $500,000 per year and save the club $250,000. It will be hard making ends meet, especially with all those arduous trips to Europe and the USA to fit in, but service to the club comes first. Next to go should be Pelchen.

You'd be delisting Jack though

Have we got any other candidates?

See ya Michael.

Thanks for your service, but change is brewing.

Tick for the on field era you oversaw, but cross to the off field.

Wanted more from you considering your background.

Club statement: Michael Nettlefold
By Luke Holmesby 3:34pm AEST Friday, September 27, 2013

The St Kilda Football Club wishes to advise that Michael Nettlefold has informed the board of his intention to move out of the role as Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Nettlefold will continue to work with the club until an appropriate replacement is found.

Mr Nettlefold has served as a club director for eight years and was appointed as CEO following Archie Fraser’s departure in 2009.

During Mr Nettlefold’s term, St Kilda played in three Grand Finals, relocated to a state of the art facility in Seaford and hosted the first ever game played for premiership points outside Australia when they took on the Sydney Swans in Wellington, New Zealand on Anzac Day this year.

Nettlefold said he left the Saints confident in the club’s direction.

“We have a number of major initiatives in place that are on the way to fruition. This meant a commitment for another long period and on reflection I felt the time was right for me to transition out of the position,” Mr Nettlefold said.

“Having worked closely with our new President Peter Summers over a number of years, I have great confidence the club is in solid hands and know we are well-positioned to re-emerge and contend again in the very near future.”

Mr Nettlefold has had a long affinity with St Kilda, having grown up in the club’s heartland in bayside Melbourne before playing 43 games for the Saints from 1979 to 1983.

He went on to play 31 games for Fitzroy from 1983-85.

“I have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead and work with so many wonderful and committed Saints people. It has been a great pleasure to have served this proud club,” he said.

“My relationship with the Saints has lasted 35 years and it has not ended, but simply changed in focus. I will remain a proud and passionate Saint for the rest of my days.”

Newly-elected President Peter Summers paid tribute to Mr Nettlefold for his service to the Saints.

“The whole club will be sorry to see Michael step down. He has done an outstanding job since being asked to take on the role of CEO five years ago,” Mr Summers said.

“Michael is in many respects a quiet achiever who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for his beloved St Kilda football club.”

doesn't give any insight into what has actually happened...nor would one expect it too......

...i was a bit concerned when i tuned into talking footy on the 7 network earlier in the week.....

...out of the blue, brucey wossey asked dimspew whether or not he was woried about the saints....after hesitating....andrew stated he was....???..but that the saints had a good board and the new president knew what he was doing....they were talking about lack of finances.....

Not sorry to see him go. I can't see too many big picture initiatives that he has put his stamp on - not sure that NZ is such a great deal (time will tell). Lots of internal staff turnover and the Club's slowness to get on the front foot regarding a few player "incidents" showed that he really doesn't have the management skills needed for the job.

It would be interesting to find out whether it was he, or the Board, that held things up regarding the re-signing of Lyon.

There is no doubt Nettlefold gave his best efforts and we should thank him for all he achieved.

His replacement is a really important decision.
I hope we don'r rush into it and search far and wide for a proven performer who can take us to a new level.

We need someone who can bring the entire club together to work as a team.

Maybe he just got tired of the role.

I think he's done a pretty good job. Granted, things could be better, but things could be a f*** ton worse (looking at you Melbourne)
