Big monstrous key forwards who will be guns don't grow on trees. That's what Paton will be.lefty wrote:I think people are crazy even suggesting swapping McEvoy for Patton, I really do.
Ruckman don't just grow on trees, and Hickey cant take a overhead mark around the ground like Benny boy.
I cannot see Hickey taking the #1 ruckman position in front of Mac. I guess after all those years complaining how GT didn't want a ruckman, now we seem happy to go back to that path. Meh SS...
I do recall Sydney getting Mumford cheap, Adelaide getting Jacobs cheap and we once got Gardiner for bugger all.

Being big and monstrous ain't worth diddley if the ball ends up down the other end after every centre bounce. We had the best full forward to ever draw breath and won bugger all.

Re: trade rumours
That's what good midfielders are for. I believe it is much harder to find a match winning forward than a competitive ruckman. They are a dime a dozen. Just ask Grant Thomas.True Believer wrote:Moorabbin Man wrote:Big monstrous key forwards who will be guns don't grow on trees. Re: trade rumours
What about the one about Dal and our 3rd rounder for Tate Pears and David Myers? Came from the AFL Trade Week Whisper 2014 on Face Book
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Reckon that isnt much chance. Essendon then dont get a pick till around pick 3000 and lose 2 players and get an older player.

Re: trade rumours
with all the talk about trading ben, and the people saying ruckman are hard to get. I thought with the way the game is going having one all out ruckman opposed to the days of two in the side , maybe in coming years ruckman maybe not so hard to get hold of ?? just a thought , id take the punt on patton for ben only if the club feels hickey has a future and skills

They will be expected to go deep into finals next year with out distractions. They lose two guys who can't break into the team for an elite player with a few years left. You don't get many chances to get players of Dals quality. They win out of that trade.

Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Maybe we won't be all that active after all.
Priorities:
Elite Tall Defender - Key position defender who can play straight away.
Midfielder - Who can run fast, kick well and get goals.
Secondary needs:
Key tall forward - Better than Wilkes but to support Riewoldt
Small forward - Losing Milne and Saad. Is Milera and Schneider enough?
Depth Tall defender - To add competition in defence.

Definitely agree with your priorities but I believe you may be underestimating Lee and the Minch.evertonfc wrote:Maybe we won't be all that active after all.

I know after the last five years of s*** recruitment us Saints don't trust youth but we need to re learn to trust youth.
Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
If you can get midfielders that kick goals we don't really need another small forward.

I think Lee will surprise a few next year if his injuries stay away. I expect Milera to lift as his fitness increases too. Probably play more away from goal though.Con Gorozidis wrote:Definitely agree with your priorities but I believe you may be underestimating Lee and the Minch.evertonfc wrote:Maybe we won't be all that active after all.

I wouldn't be betting on Essendon NOT having distractions, BIG distractions in 2014 !!gringo wrote:

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Did anybody see Montagna on ten news yesterday? Looked very unconvincing when asked if he was going to stay or not.

Probably because the older players seem to have little idea what is going on.

Might be the case, all he hastily murmured was "thank you" and walked off.plugger66 wrote:Sainter93 wrote:Did anybody see Montagna on ten news yesterday? Looked very unconvincing when asked if he was going to stay or not.

Re: Official Trade Rumours thread (all in here please)
Have feeling the following week is going to be very interesting .
Hence why stkfc senior players are in play , think Pelchen may have let it known we are out there for early picks
with player managers & I don't think they are the only ones ie Collingwood , Geelong ,Melbourne .
Lots of action pre trade in electronic medium this year .
