ANZAC game Brownlow voting
Only game I went to this year and can't believe Riewoldt didn't poll...easily best on ground. Dominant player on field...22 kicks, 5 handballs, 13 marks and 7 tackles, 2 goals.
Who got 3 votes...Hannebery? No. McVeigh? No. Richards...Yes, 16 possessions in comparison with 7 marks and a goal. Strange...helps to be in the winning side a bit.

Those umpires are a pack of maggots. Its about time they went back to wearing white instead of the away team FFS!!

Should have been
3- Hannebery
2- Riewoldt
1- McVeigh
Riewoldt never really polls well.

Re: ANZAC game Brownlow voting
It's been going on for years...
Consider Round 4, 1997...Western Bulldogs are away to Melbourne at the 'G (Melbourne won the wooden spoon that year). The Doggies win the game by 2 points.
Chris Grant (27 votes) received the 3 votes on this day for his 3 kick, 1 mark, 7 handball and 1 tackle match. Not bad if you're a defender and hold your opponent but Neitz kicked 7 and Lyon kicked 3.
Neitz's 7 goals went without a vote!
We all know that Banger was awarded the medal in what he described as a "hollow" win. It clearly should not have been. Anyway you look at that game, Grant did not deserve any votes, let alone the 3 votes. His total should have been 24 and the controversy goes away.

Roo played well, but from memory, Richards was also very effective setting up plays out of the backline, but not sure if he was a 3 voter though.

Very Interesting.
I hope those "individuals" who booed Harvey see this link.
Though I do agree the Grant suspension was harsh.
Had he been wearing a Red and White jumper he would definitely have been let off.

Re: ANZAC game Brownlow voting
Terrific research LLS.
I guess you'd have to watch the entire game to truly gauge Grant's contribution, but it doesn't
look like three votes from the stats alone, especially when Neitz has clunked 7 goals.
Sizeable free kick discrepancy too, in a 2-point win.

Re: ANZAC game Brownlow voting
Sounds like in that R4 1977 game Grant was more of a contender for the Robert Klomp memorial TV instead of 3 Brownlow votes.

Perhaps Peter Landy was umpiring that game?
