The AFL Live Official App
I was wondering if anyone here uses this app? and if its worth getting?
I was thinking of trying to set it up on the home pc using an android emulator and watching games on the pc. If this is possible it'd be a great alternative to foxtel. It also means I can run it using wifi rather than mobile networks.
Opinions please.

You can use the app on a phone via wifi, you couldn't last year
Works fine for me
Somehow they've managed to prevent me watching it on tv, I have a hdmi adapter from the iPad which worked last year but not this year

Re: The AFL Live Official App
If you go week by week make sure you turn off the setting that keep you resubscribing every week. I usually only get it if I can't get to a game or interstate and watch on my phone but no problems with it. The one where you don't watch the games is good because you can check all the games in progress.

Well I know now it looks fine on a larger screen
Week by week is a good idea. I'm not currently a member and thought that I may never be able to go to the footy with my son as he's autistic but he's improving. I hate foxtel and we just can't afford it anyway with all the costs we have.
Ive been looking at some of the apps to run on the pc
eg
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-ways-run ... s-windows/
Turn the pc into a mobile phone more or less.
With the hdmi port Rosco maybe you can find an app that keeps it open over riding the afl app, its at least worth a search
I'd love to get a membership for both of us as he likes going to the open training days we live in Seaford and I grew up in Moorabbin.
Thanks for your help
Cheers

If you're with Telstra it's an unmetered site, so won't rack up your data usage

yeah but wifi is a good option if you have an ipad and don't have a sim card in it (it only ever stays at home)Spud02 wrote:If you're with Telstra it's an unmetered site, so won't rack up your data usage

Yeah well worth it. Ran it via wifi through the apple tv. Worked a treat and much cheaper than getting foxtel.Playon wrote:I was wondering if anyone here uses this app? and if its worth getting?

Being a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to modern technology, would I be able to run it from my lap top? And I am with Southern phones. Is that going to cause any problems? Pity I cant use it on my 55" telly though.

Sorry Baz, I think it is basically designed to run on tablets & smartphones only*borderbarry wrote:Being a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to modern technology, would I be able to run it from my lap top? As mentioned above there are ways around this, by running software to pretend your PC is a tablet/phone, but it's not an out-of-the-box solution.

I will have to borrow my wife's tablet on game days then. But our internet is still with Southern Phones, not telstra. Is that a problem?
