AFL interstate really annoys me. They tell you the game is growing. Get a grip, its not. Don't even get me started. Hope it ends up on youtube or interstaters will miss out as always.

Where ever you go, what ever you do, you will always remember this day. Allan Jeans after the game.
Just watched this, makes me love the club, The Doc,what a legend, Allan Jeans inspirational leader, I was only 2 when they won the flag, and have been to the past 4 grand finals, maybe one day we can all experience that feeling
Just maybe.
Go Saints.

Re: the Final Story series-
Love the 66 boys and flag ....BUT BUT BUT - how wonderful if say the 'cruel bounce' was a good one and we could watch a doco on the 2009 grand final. Imagine hearing the testimonies of Lenny busting his gut to win, Goddard talking about 'the mark' and MIlne talking about 'the goal.' I know all in the past and it's gone. But then if Breen's kick had been a cruel bounce we may never have focussed on that team of '66. Seems a shame that Roo, Milne, Hayes, Goddard, Kosi etc will never be revered as the team of 66 - and our boys played in THREE Grand Finals.

Re: the Final Story series-
1966 is our history, i am a litle fed up with it though, something newer to hang our hat on would be awesome..
Speaking of the 66 team.....
Bob Murray was my primary school teacher from 67 to 69, I wore my Saints jumper to school every day in the footy season with the number 6 on the back.
Me and Bob had our picture taken by the The Sun's journo's for a story they were doing, it's in the The Sun's archive somewhere. I was the Full Forward in Bob's school team that he coached.
I even talked him into doing a few drop kicks from one end of the ground to the other during our training sessions. There was a magazine around at the time called Footy Life and i used to get Bob to help me with the questions in their competitions.
He would never have thought that over 40 years later he would still be our last premiership Full Back...
I also knew Brian Mynott, he used to give me a lift to Waverley when the Saints were playing there... great days for me anyway...

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: the Final Story series-
Hate this cruel bounce rubbish. Had Milne goaled there was over a minute left. Plenty of time for the Pies to goal. Had Breen missed there was also time for another score. It's not like either events happened within a minute of the siren.Newman wrote:Love the 66 boys and flag ....BUT BUT BUT - how wonderful if say the 'cruel bounce' was a good one and we could watch a doco on the 2009 grand final. Re: the Final Story series-
It's not rubbish. We would have been in an excellent position.
How many goals did the Pies score in the second half?
We were lucky to win in 66 and had no luck in 09 and 10 but you probably think the toe poke wasn't lucky.

Re: the Final Story series-
Even watching it for the second time on Sunday, it nearly bought a tear to my eye. It makes you wonder why the club has 'never got it right' since then. As everyone has noted, it was more than obvious that the players were playing for their coach - something that is definitely not the case now. I believe it was though with the previous coach. Also to many people at the club not pulling in different directions. I really feel for the 66 premiership players that dues to mis-management, bad luck etc, they are still the ones 40 years down the track that are the only StKFC premiership players. It does really make you wonder if you will ever see them win one yourself.

the last of the current series- I think
was the 1989 Blood bath- Hawks by 1 goal
interesting international incident from the poast season TEAM overseas trip- with the coach ( Jeans) called to the foyer to find 3 players being held at Gun point by America's finest.
