Re: trade rumours
McEvoy was almost certainly the right choice for the Saints in 2007. We hadn't drafted a good young ruck for years BUT! it would have been nice if we'd got Goldstein the year before instead of Brad ( Who)? Howard. Then there is the glut of decent midfielder we carefully avoided in 2008.
My biggest problem with Armitage is how long he took to become an influential player. I don't necessarily blame Armitage.

Apparently we wanted Lauchie Henderson and the Lions were supposed to take Big Mac but stuffed us up with the pick before us. Could have ben handy these days as a backman.

Re: trade rumours
Just posted on Saints BF via Facebook that Dal is headed north to the Gold Coast.
Another rumour was the direct swap of McEvoy for Patton !

Re: trade rumours
Dal to GC wouldnt totally surprise me. Dont they have a compo pick to use in the first round ?
They could then use pick 5 + Dal + 25 - which would be good for them.
Id take a first rounder for Dal in a heartbeat. I probably wouldnt take a 2nd rounder though (24?).
Macca for Patton - Id take it in a heartbeat. Is plausible if GWS want Boyd.
Sheesh imagine Boyd and Cameron in a few years. They can play a 4 man fwd line.

Re: trade rumours
why would Gold Coast want dal ?? they have a blue chip midfield already give it two years Dal would struggle to make the 22 in that team

Re: trade rumours
Dal would go alright in GC midfield for the next 2 years.
GC still have 2nd youngest list in the AFL. Bock and Brennan probably not there next year (whatever happened to Bocks drug charge?).
They might feel with Dal and maybe a couple more talls they are ready for a real shot at a flag in 2015.

Re: trade rumours
perhaps GC looking to use him in the 'quarterback' role off half back. Would suit him nicely. They will go close to making the 8 next year, but I reckon their window doesn't open for a couple of years yet.

Re: trade rumours
Isn't Rischi only 27? He is an interesting one. It seems the Suns need to trim their list for a few reasons.
Why would they want Dal over Rischi? Doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
Wonder if Brisbane will try and get him back?

Who in their right mind would trade with Essendon, given that there could be some major sanctions with their current player list.lefty wrote:Could Hurley a key defender for us, perhaps? Wants out of Essendon and went for the Saints

Re: trade rumours
Gold Coast stated that they want a skilled half back to set up play. Guy mckenna said it himself. Maybe they are considering Dal for that role. Not really looking at him as a midfielder.
Maybe they will offer the Caddy compo pick that they activated??

Re: trade rumours
Re Taylor ADAMS - Scott Lucas, his manager, just said on his SEN segment that Collingwood is his preferred club.
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
Re: trade rumours
Mentioned this possibility a few days ago, when Brennan retired. At the time I suggested Dal and Gilbert for their pick 5 (probably needs sweeteners), or just one of them for their end of first round compo pick.WinnersOnly wrote:Just posted on Saints BF via Facebook that Dal is headed north to the Gold Coast.

McEvoy for Patton hey, add Chips and Bruce in there, we might even be able to upgrade out second and third round picks a few spots too.

Re: trade rumours
Patton is a major risk with Injury and degrenerative knee. Buyer beware, especially for a more proven ( not as hyped) but less injured player in McEvoy who many want to trade at a time when he is entering his prime ( next 5 years)

He had a knee reco but his knee is more of a patella tendonitis as far as I have heard. Not degenerative. Roo started with the same thing I think. Didn't play in his first season like Roo.

20 year old with a degenerative knee? I don't believe it.older saint wrote:Patton is a major risk with Injury and degrenerative knee. Re: trade rumours
Roo is the one with the degenerative knee, and to be honest, if Patton comes to us and has a career likes Rooey, I'll be over the moon.
