Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
He played because Essendon the club was banned not the players. He could still get an infraction noticemohannair wrote:There is no risk associated with any player traded with the Dons as Gus Monfries who was a part of the "peptide" era still played the finals with Port.Devilhead wrote:Surely they understand the risk that Myers MAY receive an infraction
Or is Myers in the clear?? ie: wasn't injected

I'd heard that they were looking at Myers for Dal! Take it with a grain of salt, but this is apparantly what they have been looking into. Straight swap. Also heard that Ess were the ones not too happy with the deal and wanted more for Myers.

Yeah it'd be really great to help Essendon win a flag next year.Sainterman wrote:I'd heard that they were looking at Myers for Dal! Yep they would be upset getting a champion (albeit 29) for a player that will be banned for two years

Wouldn't give up more then a 3rd rounder for him.
All these people saying he is an "elite" kick, have you's ever seen him play?
Turns the ball over constantly every time I've watched him.

I just don't want StKilda to be the team foolish enough to give Essendon a leg up in exchange for a player with a 2 year drug ban.

And even more so after they sold us that lemon Lovett.Kickit wrote:I just don't want StKilda to be the team foolish enough to give Essendon a leg up in exchange for a player with a 2 year drug ban.
I'd be happy to not trade with them at all, even if it meant we missed out on a good player who went elsewhere and who escaped any drug penalty. Could live with that; not neccessarily with the outcome referred to above.

I can't believe he's been around so long- he seems like he's only been there a couple of years. He did improve judging by his stats. I wouldn't pay much for him though.
Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
So I take it if we trade for Myers we all suddenly start hoping Whateley is correct and that B&M, Caro, ToT, Roy Masters, John Fahey et al are wrong?
Lance or James??

No, I can handle losing a player for 2 years if it meant the jabbers we're effectively out of the comp for that period too.joffaboy wrote:So I take it if we trade for Myers we all suddenly start hoping Whateley is correct and that B&M, Caro, ToT, Roy Masters, John Fahey et al are wrong?

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Good player at a good age. Not easy to pick up players coming into their prime.
I wouldn't be surprised if the afl allows clubs to get out of deals with essendon players who are subsequently banned (or allow them to get compo) such is their disdain for efc right now.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
I remember he cut us up in a game a couple of years ago. I remember thinking geez I wish we had that kid- looks a player.
Dunno how he's progressed since, but we certainly do have a real need for some size in the midfield. Cj is our biggest mid and he doesn't use it.
The rest of our midfield are very small.
Go get him I say

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.
I know how Dal feels.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Just because we talk to a player's manager doesn't automatically mean we are going to trade for him. I think Pelchen would want to know where many out of contract players are at just to cover all bases. This bloke is one of the best at his job. One of the reasons for thismis his attention to detail. I'd be more worried if he didn't know which players were available and who was prepared to change clubs, whether to the Saints or elsewhere.
You'd hate for a deal to fall through at the last moment because we didn't know that a club we were trying to deal with wanted someone like Myers.

Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.
