Surely they understand the risk that Myers MAY receive an infraction
Or is Myers in the clear?? ie: wasn't injected

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
If we trade for a player who then gets slapped with a suspension ... well, that would be the end for me.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
The article also states that we are after a first round pick for Dal but we will likely only get offers of a second rounder. If that eventuates then I seriously hope he is still a Saint next year. If North want him they can come get him for the price we put on his head otherwise they can forget it

There is no risk associated with any player traded with the Dons as Gus Monfries who was a part of the "peptide" era still played the finals with Port.Devilhead wrote:Surely they understand the risk that Myers MAY receive an infraction

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
lets perhaps give the club the benefit of doubt over trading with bombers, im sure they would have a lot more info than the general public. I say take advantage of there poor situation , i have no clue about the player myers though

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Reckon he's a good target. And if the AFL approve a request from the AFLPA to allow all Essendon players to be considered Free Agents this trade period then we could get him for free. If they don't, then I don't see a deal getting done, no way is he worth pick 3 but he is probably worth more than our second rounder. Having said that I don't think we would actually be willing to give up our second pick for him anyway just because we want to go to the draft with at least a couple, and hopefully more, good picks.
For those who aren't familiar with Myers, he is a big bodied clearance midfielder and has an absolutely lethal kick on him. Has been played out of position at the Bombers, at half back, so we haven't seen the best of him yet. When he spends considerable time in the middle he shows a lot of skill and aggression. Was a top 10 draft pick, somewhere from 5-8 from memory.
If the price is right then definitely worth considering, if the price is Free Agent then sign him up.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Im not worried about going after Essendon players, im more worried about getting guys with ability. All this guys stats suggest he is an average footballer. Second round for him is way to much. The good part is he has a big body for a mid.

Another 6'2" HBF ..... Seriously
He's been an injury prone disappointment as a #6 draft pick..... Outside flanker

He is none of those thing's. He is big bodied inside midfielder with a good left foot.

Irrelevant. The only issue dealt with thus far is E'dope's governance, which was not assessed against the AFL-Anti-Doping Code. ASADA merely supplied an interim report to allow the AFL to get E'dope out of the finals.mohannair wrote:There is no risk associated with any player traded with the Dons as Gus Monfries who was a part of the "peptide" era still played the finals with Port.Devilhead wrote:Surely they understand the risk that Myers MAY receive an infraction

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
ASADA shut down about 2 months ago, and they bulleted a couple of people who'd been a) loose tongued and b) didn't know what they were talking about (1 of them was suspected to be the source of Whateley's ill informed drivel).kimberly saint wrote:lets perhaps give the club the benefit of doubt over trading with bombers, im sure they would have a lot more info than the general public. They shut down because WADA told them to. The AFL have no idea where ASADA have headed. WADA sent a couple of top notch investigators to Oz some weeks ago, and they've been looking over ASADA shoulders. Top ASADA officials have recently been o/s, believed to be to WADA HQ.
The bloke in Oz who knows more about what's going on, than anyone else who can speak about it, is Roy Masters. He is adamant infraction notices will be issued in both codes ("20 - 30" in each).
Even James Brayshaw has said it would be a huge risk to trade with E'dope.
Just imagine how people would melt down if a club traded with E'dope for a player who got a subsequent infraction notice. It would be an utter disaster.
E'dope didn't manage risk, we really oughtta.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
He averaged 2.2 clearances a game this year which puts him 10th at Essendon. Also 6.5 contested possessions which leaves him 13th. Not exactly blockbuster figures for a "big bodied inside midfielder".CURLY wrote:He is none of those thing's. He is big bodied inside midfielder with a good left foot.

Perhaps that's because he isn't that good not that he play's an outside role.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Fair enough. So either he's not that good, or he's a generic half-back flanker, or he's going to be suspended for drug offences. Whichever it is, I'm having trouble getting excited about him.CURLY wrote:Perhaps that's because he isn't that good not that he play's an outside role.
Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
I've watched him playing for Essendon this year and been mighty impressed, he's a big bodied midfielder who is an elite kick. We should be trading for him and in my opinion, we should be looking at trading Armitage (too slow), McEvoy (too slow) and Fisher this year and keeping Dal Santo as a half back flanker. He played some great games in the latter part of the year in that position

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
I like the look of him, can kick long goals, but at 24 he should be really be hitting his peak as a midfielder, and with Essendon's known lack of midfield depth you wonder if he just isn't quite good enough.
Managed 20 games this year in a pretty decent side @ 18 touches a game, so not terrible numbers if that is mainly on a HBF. But Hibberd & Heppell are well in front of him averaging 24 each playing a similar position.
