If you can't respect what Lyon and the rest of the club achieved during that period then I'm afraid you have very little idea of how a club operates and you have an unrealistic expectation
Sorry but get over it.
You want to feel conforted by the almost?
The fact is we have wine one flag in 120 years.
We are a disgrace of a club.
Hero worshiping and living in the last is a total waste.
I have people here who want to make decisions based on watching the class of 09 have tribute games like that is important .
It's all too hard for some people to rebuild.
Part of our demise is due to the 2004 to 2010 recruitment period .
Some of that falls on Lyon .
So chips isn't happy because the coach doesn't like him getting on the Morton bay bugs with a 22 year old wanna be gangster with no brain. Chips is 31 . Sorry but I take the coaches side. Chips is way out of line and plain stupid if he thinks he's being a cool guy .
So Milne isn't happy ?
Well no s***. He's on rape charges.
What is wrong with people . Get over 09 and 10.
It's over I get no comfort from us being good 4 years ago or 5 years ago.
If people want to vent their hurt at the coach it is moronic .
Suck it up . Take a deep breath. Face up to where we are at and prepare for the rebuild.
Brick by brick.
Ground up.

Nope not in that context.
A radio show is not a soapbox.
Is it OK to have a racist, sexist, ageist or any other anti social opinion in the media, that's after all an opinion as well.

It's about not abusing power...
A opinion voiced in this way is designed to be destabilising and is weak and manipulative.
Just watched a mini series on channel 9 about the same thing.... ego and power....
The fact that he said what he said one air he must actually think that his opinion matters and that it has the power to change things down at the club

Why else would you say it???

The more I think about it the more I come to the conclusion that Finey is an egotistical flog of the highest order

I'm with you Con except in your belief that Dal Santo should go. I think he's a good figure to have around the club during a rebuild. Fisher by all means -- and Milne, Kosi, Blake and Gram have already gone. .

Bingo.
Seriously Martins a cabbage let Richmond have him... we are fast approaching a young side ... is he really a player you build around????

Nup
Correct. All the talent in the world. But a grade A d**khead. We might have taken him ten years ago, but at this stage in our rebuild (i.e. at the beginning) we simply can't risk it.

Some little minor facts. SW isnt a well loved coach by the majority of players. RL was at least liked by the stars but not so much the guys not getting a games as every single coach including SW is. Finey knows less than some here on this board so I wouldnt get carried away with what he says and that is again fact but he has had a strong opinion about this for a while. Completely disagree myself but also we shouldnt extend his contract till later next year.

Interesting - would make sense. I thought it was because they started quoting him on the Sat morning show when he was humouresly grumpy and it went to his head.

Those rants are so pre prepared and manufactured.....they're not very funny anymore.

Yep. Perversely, would he have come out and absolutely white anted any another club like that based on heresay? No, he actually has too much respect for footy to do that. It was his passion for St Kilda that made him feel like he needed to speak out and try and get a change of coach despite being one step up from us over opinionated nobodies here. Very unprofessional.

Players didn't love Lyon for awhile either.

I remember a big story in the paper about "lyonising Lenny"

He won them over when he clearly had a plan, that when hard work was applied, they had results.

May not happen, but early as.

No it means stuff all but dont think he has all or even most of players on side and thats why it is funny when people on here say how well liked SW is by the players and RL was an arsehole.

What if his points are valid

Ifor one don't subscribe to everything I hear on radio.... Nor do I dismiss it, because its not what I want to hear...

From what I've heard.... Things are very unstable at Seaford...

Big changes next year I reckon!

Mark "Ruddy" Fine

What an ego!

Too many mates from the past!

Knows nothing about running a footy club!

Loves the sound of his own voice!

Will be absolutely orgasmic that he's got to seven, or is it eight pages now, on Saintsational.

Time to grow up and get a real job Finey!

The garbage that spews from you is unbelievable..how old are you ? I am not comforted by the almost and never intimated I was but if you can't apreciate past efforts then you simply do not apreciate the club and it's players full stop. You are the type that should follow another sport that requires a lot less effort...maybe darts? You have insulted the past efforts of all our past players who have tried their guts out for the club and us.

we are a disgrace of a club??? mate just piss off to somewhere else please.

One thing sticks out for me. If Watters was disrespecting the guys who put in so much under Ross Lyon so heavily, then why has Lenny Hayes signed on to play again next year? Sounds to me like Lenny (and Rooey for that matter) are on board with Watters.

What did we acheive during tha Lyon period??

Did we acheive a Premiership?? No

Did we acheive a massive hole in our list?? Yes

The realistic expectation is that the CLUb and the SUPPORTERS want a Premiership not a frickin pat on the back to say well done you came frickin 2nd

Whatever you think we acheived uinder Lyon tenure was completely decimated when he walked out for a big pay day

The majority of players at the time were completely gutted when he walked out and claimed that the "era" was over ie: our Premiership window had firmly slammed shut

Since then the senior players have struggled for motivation - I can undersrtand why when a coach you have massive respect for completely disowns you and says sorry but you had your chance and blew it and our now too far over the hill to challenge again.

Now a new coach arrives (SW) and initially pampers to the senior players egos by NOT claiming we were in rebuild mode - onfortunately the senior players still struggled either with injury or motivation and SW soon comes to the conclusion that continuing on in this direction is rather mute

So the rebuild started and unfortunately for it to be successful some sacrifices are to be made - which is where we are at now!!

And you think the club didnt realise how the list was going? Thats what amazes me. its as if it was a shock that the list was stuffed. Everyone should have seen it coming but it was worth the risk. Just ask the players in that era.

It seems you are another one with rose coloured glasses that thinks the club and all involved must win without exception. How incredibly unrealistic that is and not to apreciate the effort involved to even get as close as we did indicates how naive you are. people like you need to get involved with grass roots clubs and understand the effort involved, win lose or draw instead of the sterile existance of the AFL fan.

We did not win a flag in 2009/10

Nor in 2004/5

1997/98..... 1991/92

The fact we hang our hats on unsuccessful seasons is a sign of the psych of a saints supporter

there is a diff between hanging your hat on something and apreciating effort and I feel sorry for those who can't differenciate between that.

What are we supposed to hang our hats on Marto? We weren't lucky enough to be born into a successful club family. If we were, we could get around like roosters sprooking about how many flags we had won, and hang s*** on supporters of clubs like St Kilda.
