Pies already one of the oldest lists in the comp - so cant see them going for dal.
North one of the youngest so hed be a perfect fit youd think.

Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne
Loyalty? Don't make me laugh. Dal might not want to go, and I'll be very happy if he stays. If we can get a better than very good current player under 25 or top 10 pick, I'd pursue it nonetheless. This club needs to think of the next 10 years, not the last 5 years.
We absolutely will not deal with anyone trying to undercut us.
Dal Santo is worth more than Goddard was, in trade terms. Proven leader on and off the field, zero problems, happy to stay, mentoring role, good media presence, plus playing against him more difficult. If other clubs want to try hardball, he stays, simple. Same with any of the elites.

But if someone wants him badly and gives us a really good deal. Given our current future looks very bleak. We have no choice but to take it and look after our future.

Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne
sorry pc shut down before I could add
ST KILDA has been in talks with Nick Dal Santo about his future with the club.
Dal Santo’s current contract with the Saints is due to expire at the end of October but he has met objectives that would trigger an extra year.
The All-Australian’s future has been the subject of some conjecture in recent times, with one report on Wednesday linking him to North Melbourne.
But St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen said it was drastic to jump to conclusions just yet.
“No decision has been made to release Nick. I’ve got to highlight that to our supporters. He has been a long and decorated player with our club and there is every chance that he will still be with us next year,” Pelchen said.

Cheers mate!Megamaguire wrote:St Ick makes a lot of sense to me and i wouldn't want to push Dal out for a pick lower than 15 lets say.
There is a lot of love for Dal but also some frustration as many of us know how superb his skills are yet he doesn't appear to be still developing and taking games by the throat - sorry but have to use the Judd example last week as some kind of comparison.
I don't want Dal to go but if he stays he and watterman need to make him more effective.
I doubt North have enough currency to get into a trade for him anyway maybe a Melbourne or Hawthorn or GWS/ Suns would ?????
G O S A I N T S !
I must say, reading what I've read consistently from Dal in the media this year (and recently backed up) talking about how much he wants to stay and that he wants to help the kids coming through (the Burke/Harves comparison is tugging at my heartstrings), I feel it will be detrimental to the culture of our club to move him on (if its against his will).
I will accept pick 15 or better (or for a young 'untouchable gun' like Atley, Bastinac or Cunnington), but it would be accepted with a heavy heart from myself.

Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne
Gone for the best deal IMO after listening to that.
IMO the club will try find out what compo they would get for him as a free agent. If not good enough then I reckon he will stay.

It really wouldnt though. The Kangas are going nowhere really really quickly and do not attract anyone to play for them, even if they scored Dal.Con Gorozidis wrote:Pies already one of the oldest lists in the comp - so cant see them going for dal.

Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne
Club waiting for a suitable deal, but if none can be reached he stays a Saint.
I reckon Dal Santo could play for 4 more seasons off half back. Has had very few injuries. I'd be disappointed to see him go. One of the really good guys, like Blake.

Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne
Anyone here him on 3UZ or 3DB (whatever it is) this morning? He sounded like he was leaving to me.
He was talking about how Banger had served the club well but when he moved on we played in 2 grand finals not long afterwards. The same could be said for Plugger (Lockett that is).

Has anyone though Dal is such a top selfless bloke that he feels if - at 30 - he can snag the Saints a ten year player he will take one for the team?

That's the way I'm reading it, from my armchair:
he is using holding off on his 1 year contract extension trigger to wait and see if someone offers the club a seriously good deal.
If no such ripper deal eventuates, he triggers his 1 year extension and away we go- watching dal play another 100 games for the saints!
If this is the case, lets hope the club do the right thing by him and pay him well for looking out for the club.
I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.
I know how Dal feels.

Not really. I don't believe anyone would be that altruistic. Blind loyalty is for the fans.
Just like BJ who probably would have preferred to stay, Dal will do what is in his best interests, as will the Saints.
It sounds like he probably wants to stay and in a perfect world we'd keep him etc etc but....
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
