Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
Can take a mark down back a few have stated above sounds very appealing !
Simply being able to repossess the ball cleanly in our defensive area is a big plus in itself and would give our defensive structures a leg up into every game going fwd.
Obviously hope Josh has the potential and focus to be the real deal. I still fondly recall the early days of Matt Maguire taking stacks of big marks across the Saints defensive zone until he was crueled with a career ending bone snap in his lower leg. Losing Maguire so suddenly back then haunted me for a while there.
The blood supply is being cut off from my crossed fingers so l hope we land the class acts A.S.A.P.

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

I loved Maguire but peoples memory's of him seem way above the reality. Sam Fisher and Later Gilbert went on to take far more marks in the backline than Maguire ever did.Megamaguire wrote:Can take a mark down back a few have stated above sounds very appealing !

When the will Federal Government investigate the mental health crisis that is ravaging the discount electrical goods business. From Ken Bruce going mad to Crazy John and his crazy eyes - its an epidemic out there. The company bosses are so desperate for help they appear on tv screaming "We're going crazy!". They can no longer make rational decisions. They state they are "giving their products away at ridiculous prices" that will surely bankrupt them. And we take advantage of their illness and buy that cheap fridge. Shame on you Australia, Shame on you
p.s I'm typing this on my new laptop I got at an insane price. You'd be crazy not to take advantage of these prices - s*** its catching!

Crazy John died a few years ago too, it was probably sale-induced dementia…Bluthy wrote:

I have to say Maguire pre-leg injury often seemed to command the backline. I remember him being able to take plenty of marks in a row - not fumbling that much and patrolling the heights successfully. I don't think Gilbert has ever got as close. Apologies if l sound down on Gilbert but i shudder everytime he goes near the ball -if he has to kick it i just assume we are about to surrender possession again. I never felt that with Chips ot J.Blake. Gwilt again pre-injury was a good reliable backman too and he did well under Lyon. Yes Fisher was the best backman of this group and better than Maguire but there's no way Gilbert is in front of Maguire.

Goose at his peak was the only bloke in the league who could give Jono Brown at his peak a run for his money.
Overrated? Not when you can do that.

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
My take on the article, was that the above clubs were chasing him prior to him being picked up by the Giants.dragit wrote:We have a pick before all of those clubs, only Melbourne could pip us really.FQF wrote:Not sure about that. The article suggested he was being chased by North, Blues and Lions, so I wouldn't risk him in the preseason.St Chris wrote:As long as we dont give up a pick higher than 47 - this kid hasnt shown enough to suggest he's gonna be any better than the 3rd rounder in a compromised draft they got him for.
GWS really need to be realistic or we'll just grab him in the preseason draft for nothing.
Yes, he's preferenced St Kilda, but I doubt someone at that stage of their career will be too selective.
