What's the oil on him. Will he be any good?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Very athletic, very much in the Harry Taylor mould, a booming left foot kick, tall will be our CHB for the next decade if things go right. shouldn't cost to much as he was a zone selection and is behind the pecking order down at the Giants, great pick up IMO.

Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
As long as we dont give up a pick higher than 47 - this kid hasnt shown enough to suggest he's gonna be any better than the 3rd rounder in a compromised draft they got him for.
GWS really need to be realistic or we'll just grab him in the preseason draft for nothing.

Not sure about that. The article suggested he was being chased by North, Blues and Lions, so I wouldn't risk him in the preseason.St Chris wrote:As long as we dont give up a pick higher than 47 - this kid hasnt shown enough to suggest he's gonna be any better than the 3rd rounder in a compromised draft they got him for.

Yes, he's preferenced St Kilda, but I doubt someone at that stage of their career will be too selective.

Good to see players nominating us… we must be waving the cheque book around, I guess there is plenty of opportunity to be had with us, particularly for a key back.

Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
Great news, a 3 year deal doesn't sound over the top either.
What gets it done, 3rd rounder?
What about McEvoy, pick 21, & pick 3 for Pick 1, Bruce and Pick 9.
Effectively pick 9 and Bruce for McEvoy.

Don't know if Benny Mac commands that with the season he just had.maverick wrote:Effectively pick 9 and Bruce for McEvoy.

He does. StKilda supporters tend to rate him less than the rest of the AFL world.kp83 wrote:Don't know if Benny Mac commands that with the season he just had.maverick wrote:Effectively pick 9 and Bruce for McEvoy.

Strait swap for Jay Lever .
Seriously, if we were to get Bruce, I'd see no point in persisting with Lever.

Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
Not sure where this elite kick stuff is coming from, but you'll be disappointed if you're expecting that. He can sometimes hit a tough kick but he's more like Sam Gilbert in that he's prone to poor decisions and clangers.
Having said that, I am a big fan of him. Good height and is often a marking defender. Has good clean hands, reads the ball well. Moves exceptionally well for his size too. I think he has the potential to become a top 10 key defender, although it's just as likely that he will end up very average. See how it plays out, I would rather this story didn't come out until during trade week so that we could make GWS feel trapped and get him cheap, this could push up his value now, like what happened last year with Tom Hickey and it being reported that we are after him a long time before the trade period actually began.
Would want him for our third rounder. But I can't see how GWS would accept that given they have no need for a third rounder. They will want a player for him, and if we can't find one who is willing to go then I'll say we will end up getting him for free.

I have seen him play one game (admittedly against Melbourne), but he is hugely impressive. Tall, strong, athletic, tough in the contest, great mark and big kick. Perfect pick up for us. A long term player, that will need to be developed. Could be centre half back for the next flag tilt in 5 years + time

He ain't no Harry Taylor . Harry Taylor has vice like hands reads the play with purity and is super composed
Bruce isn't a natural footballer like Taylor and has a high clanger count. Taylor hardly ever makes a mistake
More of an athlete trying to be a footballer with Pelchen seems to love .
Not without big risks.
But I'm still happy to have him. I assume we are paying him big bucks. Similar to the Tom Hickey deal I imagine .
Cross your fingers and good luck !

Re: Josh Bruce keen to be traded to the Saints
whats the point in paying someone big bucks that has shown sfa???
pointless imo
show something first, then get the coin you deserve
no point going around signing whoever on big bucks willy nilly
having said that i dont think ive ever seen him play tbh

You're lookin' good just like a snake in the grass,
One of these days you're gonna break your glass.
Don't bring me down, no no no no no no no no,
I'll tell you once more before I get off the floor
