Eatting my words
Ok I have on many threads rubbished Zac Dawson. Said he wasvcrap overrated and made to look better then he was.
I am taking it back, sorry Zac. Guy played a great game. Really went well.

We lost Zac two seasons ago and still haven't been able to replace him
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Proves that very average talent can be very solid contributors when they play to their strengths and stick rigidly to team structures.

Was always underrated by a portion of saints fans.
A collective of them weren't very nice to him, hopefully it's something as a supporter group we get away from...whipping boys and jeering are so something essendon fans would do.
Appears he also has a great footy brain.

When he played with us , I thought that he often failed to read the play, but was often quick enough to recover.
( As opposed to Max who read the play very nicely ).
I guess as he ages he'll get better at reading the play as he gets slower in the reflexes.

Re: Eatting my words
sure he made some clangers - but athletic defenders over 195cm who can kick do not grow on trees. the bloke is a rare commodity.
they arent replaced easily as we all now know!

Re: Eatting my words
Just proves the point that the majority of players over 195cm take a longer time to develop
Zac is now 27 yo and has now played about 120 games - given his height his body is now finally AFL ready and he has game experience to back it up
He has just entered his prime and will probably play his best footy over the next 2 years - if he stays injury free of course.
Josh Bruce is an interesting case - similar height to Zac and plays same position - difference being he is only 21 and has only played 15 games
Bruce will take time and no doubt will stuff up numerous times (in the next few years) as Zac did - but we will have to be patient - and if we are the payoff could be huge. (thats if we get him of course)

Re: Eatting my words
Zac is a proven good finals player and they are worth every cent compared to players who look a million bucks during a season and don't perform in the finals.

People don't get the role. A full back stopper only has to get a hand on the ball and upset the mark. People that watch footy don't always understand it.

Glad he wasn't suspended for that tussle with Podsiadly, prior record aside there was nothing in that. Still a traitor though.
Re: Eatting my words
traitor or pushed out by an inferior contract offer?
I hate this traitor / loyalty talk, where's the loyalty to the young guys that aren't good enough to make it?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
